Hi Folks,
dan1979 try to keep your spirit up, it's true that the odds of an early miscarriage don't look great on paper, (I think in some places they are nearly as low as 1 in 5) but you have to reverse them and think that it's actually an 80% chance that your pregnancy will be just fine!
I had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks but went on to have a happy healthy pregnancy and a very lovely baby boy. One thing to watch out for is pregnancy symptoms suddenly disappearing. But really if you have any concerns then talk to your dr/midwife and they will put your mind at rest.
As for the person who said that after 1 week most sperm are dead. That's B0ll0cks. Sperm are on a constant cycle of renewal.
Cheers,

Hi dan.
When I lost my first pregnancy I was told that half of all first pregnancies end in a mc.
Signs/symptoms.....Please try not to think about it because every little thing your wife experiences you will be thinking is it a mc.
Both of my pregnancies ended in fairly early mc's and aren't what I would call a typical (lots of pain & bleeding) mc. I started spotting about a week after my positive test. Doctor told me not to worry as some pregnancies start like this. My cousin had regular periods for 6 months with her second so I didn't worry. Went for my 3 month scan to be told I had just an empty sac. I had lost the baby at about 6 weeks.
Same thing happened with the second pg at about 6 weeks and as I had already had a mc I went straight to the early pg unit and they confirmed the second loss.
I had no pain at all, just spotting. Without grossing anyone out...sometimes it was fresh spotting, sometimes it was old looking.
Please try not to think about things that can go wrong too much. Enjoy it!
Congratulations and best wishes
shelly
Hi I am on month 5 of TTC and think had an early m/c last month, I am always regular as clockwork but was 10 days late last time and then had very heavy/weird period (sorry if TMI) anyway I am going to try and just chill out now and stop obsessing about ovulation etc... in the hope that it will just 'happen' soon!!:D Good luck to all TTCers :beer:0 -

That was me I think. I agree that sperm are constantly being renewed but if sperm have been sitting where sperm sit for a long time they will be dead. You will have good ones mixed with bad.
If you read my post where I said this I did say I was going by what my fertility doctor told me. Also I went on to say that I hear so much conflicting advice that I don't know what to believe and what to disregard.

Just though I would post my experience. I have PCOS and my periods vary from every 6 months to 2 years
Over time I had numerous Clomid attempts, Prevera (sp?)to bring on my period but nothing worked. Eventually had to have daily injections (cant remember what they were called) which worked! I was told I was pregnant with twins :j and then began to bleed after about 8 weeks which continued until probably 25 weeks. It was a real emotional rollercoaster - at one stage they couldnt find the heartbeat on twin one but I think by then stage I had emotionally switched off. Anyway at 36 weeks had pre-eclampsia and the twins were delivered at 37 weeks by C-section. :T They are now 13 year old young men and although I have not managed to concieve again naturally - I do remember the ups and downs (lots of tears) of TTC - keep going everyone - miracles do happen:j

'lo everyone.
Just thought I'd drop by and see how everyone's doing. Sorry to read about those who have had previous / recent problems. Good luck to everyone this month.
I'd said that my AF was off, my LP was stupidly short etc. and was wondering if it was down to a lot of stress through family probs. Last month was a couple of days shorter than more recent cycles and it was so much more normal than they had been for a couple of months. Probably TMI but I noticed this evening that I had some semi-stretchy clear/yellowy cm (likely to get this before proper ewcm??) - technically, I should be ovulating fairly soon if I go back to my more normal cycles - do you reckon everything might have cleared up and that I may have a nice normal LP etc. this month????0 -
After having an early m/c this month should I take a month off TTC next month? I think I may have read it somewhere? x0

I don't know the medical opinion but it may best to give it a rest for a month or two, if for nothing else than your santy! These things are tough on our emotions.Compulsive Spendaholic #150

The miscarriage association has this to say on the subject:

Having looked at a number of sites for information, there seems to be a mixed opinion. You have to do what's best for you.

Lwcus, I agree with Skint and JS. Try when you are ready. If you feel ok then keep TTC, if you don't and feel you want a break then please do so. Don't feel you have to keep TTC if you don't feel up to it.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
