Have fun house-hunting marc, you've done a fantastic job this month :beer:Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000
Mortgage Overpayments Pot £12630 -
I've just been lying in the bath, thinking over my finances and how my additional income will affect them (scenario's including hitting my AQA target of ~£300 per month, getting my salary increase, not getting increase etc...) and even in the worst case scenario, things are looking rosy
I need to have a proper sorting out session, probably over the weekend, getting all of my paperwork and accounts into some sort of order - so I can sit down with it all and see exactly what I have got, haven't got, may have and won't have etc. Hopefully then I will be in a better position come Monday to know which of the properties I am viewing I will be able to manage comfortably, whilst still having enough money to live well and save for the future.
I'm looking forward to following the bank charges test case with interest, as whilst I have already reclaimed all of my own charges (before the test case began), I am still doing so for my mum - and they are quite substantial.0 -

Really looking forward to looking around that 'swanky' new development nowI've deliberately put off going for a viewing until I heard about AQA and also my money at work, as I didn't want to raise my hopes too much...
Wish I could have a  to celebrate, but I'm in work in the morningand anyway, with this flippin' cold I wouldn't be able to taste it anyway! :rotfl:

I guess my next question would be, anybody know of any cheap furniture suppliers?
Obviously will be hitting eBay, freecycle and local car boots etc when the time comes, however I'd like to be able to take a look around now and get an idea of what I'll likely have to spend. Even though I may have a little more money to play with, I'd like to spread what I have as far as I can.
I'll be keeping my eye on any sales (Argos, Tesco, Ikea etc.) but would still welcome any idea's.In particular, I'm going to be needing the larger utility items such as a bed, sofa (s), storage and the like.

marc. don't know if you get it in Warrington but we have a free weekly (friday) ads paper called Buy Sell with loads of stuff for sale. Also the Halton Haven Charity shop in Old Runcorn has furniture for sale upstairs. Enjoy bargain hunting.Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

We do get the Buy Sell, however there never seems to be much different to what's in the Guardian (and the Weekly News).
Thanks for the tip re HH shop though - I didn't know they did furniture too! St Rocco's have a furniture place too, so It'll be worth checking them out.
Argos seem to have a couple of cheap clearance bits left, so I might grab myself a couple of bargains before my gif card expires0 -
Iv'e noticed that my parents, who live in Runcorn, get a Buy Sell but it's not as good as the one we get, the Mid Cheshire. There are different editions for different areas. Anywhoo shouldn't you be looking after your cold and be in bed by now. Consider yourself told off (in a nice way !)Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. I am in bed, but still browsing
Just trying to work out my tax situation now with AQA  I'm quite well up on tax law and regulations, but I'm trying to devise the most MSE way of dealing with this income. Please read this as planning tax avoidance not evasion :rotfl:0 -
I'm going to take advantage of my 4 day 'break' from work to try and have a proper sort out, as well as going flat hunting.
It seems stupid to take loads of c**p with me when I do move, and I have to confess to being something of a hoarder - so this weekend I'm going to try and get rid of anything that I really don't want or need. Loads will go onto eBay and freecycle, and any real rubbish will go to the tip (as the bin's already full ).
It's my clothes that are going to be the problem - I really do love clothes shopping for bargains (yeah, I know, a man that loves shopping  ) and have accumulated quite a collection - especially a year or so ago when I was earning very good money and had more to spend. However, I really don't need most of it, so it's got to go. I think I must have in the region of 40 shirts, most of which never see the light of dayso I'm aiming to reduce to 20 (as I do wear a shirt every day for work, so need a few). I also want to get rid of some jeans - a fair few pairs are now past it, so will be going in the bin. Realistically, I only need 4/5 pairs as I only wear them couple of times per week.
I do have a couple of designer bargains, so may be able to raise a few quid by selling them, if I can bare to! :rotfl:
Aim for the weekend - to be able to fit my clothes into 1 wardrobe, and one small chest of drawers - which I do not think is unreasonable!
Spending today was £1.50 towards a leaving/birthday present for a colleague, and £30 for a coat(yes I know I was naughty, but it's nearly £300 worth of coat!!! and it's lovely
)
We had a big team meeting in work today, where it was announced that our manager (the one who was causing so many problems) will no longer be our manager.0 -
i was wondering how you were when you hadn't posted. Hope your cold is getting better. Good luck with the declutter and flat hunt. You must be really looking forward to sorting everything out and hopefully moving. Great news about that Manager too. Really pleased everything is working out for you. Enjoy !
