    Hey all,
Just thought I would update on the Pod Hotel, we stayed there for 5 days last week. Very clean and modern, the place is spotless and the maids do a grand job keeping the rooms clean and hoovered every day. It is in a great location for getting to everything (just jump on the 4,5,6 to get downtown or change at Union Square for elsewhere). We stayed in a queen room so can't comment on the others with shared bathrooms.
There are plenty of good places to eat nearby, not that we stayed in that area much, more Lower East Side/East Village fans.

    Pros:
Great location for tourist attractions and big department stores
    Very clean
    Free WiFi
    Cheap rates all year
    Close to subway
Very comfy bed (we are both tall folk so notice this sorta thing!)

    Cons:
    Lifts are very slow
Bathrooms are very small but immaculate
Can be noisy as clientelle is mainly 20-something (earplugs fix this)

It was -12 degrees C while we were there and it snowed a few inches in an hour and we still got home, nothing stops JFK running, La Guardia is another thing :)

Could I ask how noisy it was?! x

It wasn't big parties or anything like that, at peak times like 8am and 7pm and 11pm there are lots of doors opening and closing because people are using the communal bathrooms to get ready to go out or brush their teeth before bed.

I am very sensitive to noise anyway, OH always says I can hear a mouse fart so to anyone else its probably just normal coming and going. There was absolutely no noise during the night from the guests or the city outside which was very bizarre as everywhere else I have stayed in the city there is always the drone of cabs and buses through the night.

Both of us said we would definately stay there again so its nothing worth worrying about. Just wouldn't want to mislead anyone by saying it is absolutely silent at all times :)

There was no TV or stereo noise (all rooms have iPod docks) or ceiling/floor/wall disturbance as you find in some places just doors closing not slamming.

Have been looking at Travelzoo but nothing come up as yet for Times Square area for 3 nights beginning April. Anywhere else I should be looking, do not want to prepay!

if you don't want to prepay, you will probably only get rack rate at the hotel, prepaying ensures you get a better price with taxes included. also, by not prepaying might mean that the rate quoted won't include the 13.25% ish tax on hotels, and then you might get caught out when checking out and having to pay the bill...

    what are your exact dates?

Thanks for your response. I did in fact get a good rate on travelzoo at the roosevelt so I am all organised now!

  • Has anybody here stayed in The Pod Hotel?

I'm looking for somewhere a bit cheaper, not overly fussed by size, as we won't be spending much time in the room. I've looked at The Cosmopolitan as recommended in these pages, and this looks good, but dates are limited. It seems cheaper to book direct though the hotel website but the dates I'd prefer aren't available.

You will find it cheaper to book the Cosmopolitan through Hotelconnxions rather than the hotel as they are cheaper, however availability depends on when you want to go.
  • I was going to book the Cosmopolitan for 2 nights in April. It was coming up at £208 for 2 nights with Opodo. Now its £244. Is there any chance it will go back down?

It looks about the same price to book direct for the dates Im looking at at the moment.

Are there any promo codes for the Cosmopolitan's own website?

I dont really wanna use Opodo because I think their cancellation fees are too high and I dont want to pay until I have used the room.
