Cheap Flights to New York

I was wanting to book for early April next year and take advantage of the cheap prices on the ba world sale. I know they have another sale in January but can't remember what their prices were this Jan. Last year I booked in November for the April trip, can anyone advise? Should I wait, and hang on to my money and hope I can get a good deal later? I need to fly from Newcastle too so that's another consideration. At the moment I can book any flight with BA that I want there and back and I know that this will become less as time goes on and flights get full.( NB anyone wanting to do this and has plenty of nectar points can get a good discount too)0

Small airports normally work out a lot more expensive... the main airports i'd consider flying to NYC out of are either MAN or LHR. Newcastle would have higher prices, and it might be worth considering the cost difference of driving to Manchester, (3 hours away?!), and this might work out cheaper.
I always stand by my rule of 3 months is a good time to book, as people have already booked some seats, and the airlines want to start selling off theirs cheaper...
i normally go to NYC in March, and book either dec / jan. I once picked up a return flight for £180 (though it was about 3 years ago now, taxes have gone up since!)
post your findings here, with what prices you get, and me or one of the other money savers might be able to find something good for you... we don't mind searching around..0 -
Thanks Markymoo. The current BA sale HRW - JFK next April is available for £228, from NCL it's £295.00( with Exec club reduction), so for the difference of £67.00 I need to weigh that against the cost of parking at MAN, and driving back. Having driven back from MAN before following a trip to Florida I would rather pay the £67.00. I only live 9 minutes from the airport so it makes sense to me. If I use some nectar points i can get the flight for £558.00 for both of us. As the sale closes on Tues I need to make my mind up. This year we did NCL-AMS- JFK, but these prices are over £400.00 each at the moment. Any advise appreciated. I have looked at airline network and they are over £600.00 for 2 people.
Just to say too following your other post( hope it's OK to put here?) I have now looked at going to the Cosmopolitan, as you and others recommend, having initially wanted to book the Casablanca. hotelconxtions is by far the cheaper and would save me almost £500.00 on what i was going to pay. Should I book this now too or wait? Not sure if it gets full quickly. Thanks.0 -
with the hotel cosmo, always book when you can... leave it a while, and the price can go up.. normally by about $2 a night, but it can creep up..
if you're saving money by booking the cosmo, consider a 2 double bed room, these are a lot more spacious, and normally what I book (even though i'm travelling solo)
what are you exact dates, and i'll see what prices i can come up with flyingh from Newcastle.0 -
My dates are flexible but over the easter hols as that's when my daughter is on holiday -16 April? That gives us time to get over jet lag!!, we were thinking of going 7/8 nights.
Glad you clarified about the cosmo! I had suggested we book a two bedded room but thought it had to be for 4 people. We spent a lot of time this year down that area, A&B are at Southsea Seaport and the theater booking office much more accessible than Times Square. Thanks for your help!0 -
sorry that should be 7- 16 April!!0

might be a nice change for me next time... any links for booking??0 -
Marymoo, that's great thanks so much for your efforts. I think I might just book with BA then for the differnce of £10.00, and choose my flights plus the BA air miles I will earn. With you sayoing to book 3 months before do you think the Jan sales are better value than these or is this as good as it gets? I don't mind paying now though. Also should i book the Cosmo now or wait until the new year?0
