Weekly Flylady Thread 30th July 2007!

Welcome to the weekly flylady thread. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!

Following requests to start things steadier for new members who did not realise the tasks list wasn’t a must do, just an encouragement, we now have levels. There will now be level 1, 2 and 3. Level 1 being very basic it has been requested that this is just one task per day, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. If you want to do level 2 you add the tasks on level 1 with the level 2 tasks, if you want to do level 3 you add the tasks on, easy peasy. Choose a level to aim for but be realistic, if you’ve got a busy day on or are just starting etc aim for level one, if you get higher then great, if not then not to worry its only suggestions. Every room comes back around next week. Trust me some days I'll only be doing level one myself.

THESE LISTS ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS AND NOT A MUST DO LIST, ALWAYS WELCOME TO POST AND FOLLOW YOUR OWN.

Also adding a extra mission each day. Another one where it’s up to you if you want to do it or if you need to. Fling boogies, hotspot clearing, cupboard sorts, drawer sorts etc will all be on this list. Any problems with this of any suggestions do please let me know.

A few of the basics before we start the week:

Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc

Nighttime routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

27 Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding 27 items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

Manic Monday - Kitchen and Dining Room
Level One

Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces
Level Two
Clean floors
Clean cupboard door fronts and the front of appliances
Sort fridge bringing what needs using soon to the front
Wipe dining table (clean table cloth if necessary)
Level Three

Wipe window sills, clean any marks off windows if required
Wash the washer drawer out if it's gunky
Extra Mission:
Choose one or more of:
  • Clean inside of fridge
  • Clean outside of small appliances, even if it's only one you get done
  • Clean OVEN yes I know you all hate that one :p wonder how many choose it
  • Sort any one kitchen/dining room storage area, drawer, cupboard or a shelf
Tuesday Living Room, Hall and Stairs

Remove clutter making sure stairs especially are safe
Clean TV, other electricals and cabinets
Level 3
Wipe light switches and banister
Clean any other glass like mirrors etc
Vacuum under furniture (only if you won't hurt yourself doing it, don't want any injuries)
Extra Mission:
Pick one or more of the following tasks –
  • Clear one hotspot, or just spend at least 5 minutes tackling it
  • Make any important calls you've either not got round to or been putting off!
  • Tidy coats, shoes and bags (Pigpen may find this one time consuming with all those yummy shoes)
  • Using the idea Shirley suggested, get yourself a bag or box, go around collecting things that are not in the place they should be, then put them back where they should be
Wednesday, Master Bedroom & Landing

Level 1
Check fire alarms are working
Vacuum floor in bedroom and on landing
Level 2
Remove bed linen and replace with frsh linen
Dust surfaces & make sure no cobwebs
Level 3
Vacuum mattress before replacing with fresh linen
Extra tasks list, as usual choose one or more
  • 27 fling boogie time, time for that midweek fling, go on grab a bag and clear that clutter
  • Sort one drawer, making sure only what should be in there is, anything that's had it's day or doesn't belong there is removed
  • Clean windows in these rooms
  • Clear any one hotspot
Thursday Bathroom and Study/Pc Area
Level One
Clear any clutter from desk
Level Two
Clear clutter from floor
Clean bath, toilet and sink
Dust PC and desk
Level Three
Vacuum/sweep and mop these rooms
Wipe keyboard and mouse (these usually have more germs on than your toilet so important)
Wipe down tiles in bathroom
Extra mission:
Pick whichever you want to attempt
  • Clean windows in today's rooms
  • Clean any light fittings and switches in these rooms
  • Wash your bathroom mats
  • Sort your toiletries, flinging anything well past it's use by and those empty containers. Leave out what needs using first like the last bit of shower gel in a bottle etc.
Finally Friday - those terrible kids rooms and spare rooms
Level One

Vacuum Floor (even if it's just where you can see)
Level Two

Strip beds, vacuum mattress and replace with fresh linen
Level Three
Dusting and cobweb checking
Put anything back in it's place that isn't where it should be
Extra Mission Task Choices
  • Time for the Friday Flylady Fling, aim for 27, if you can't find that many, well done, you are obviously making a difference
  • Sort through some toys/books/clothes even if it's just for 10 miutes, making sure any broken ones are dealt with/flung, dirty ones get wiped/washed before putting them back and anything that should be parted with is.
  • Clean kids rooms windows (check the curtains etc while you are there to make sure they don't need cleaning/wiping
  • Wipe any sticky marks off doors and walls in the kids rooms, may aswell wipe the lightswitches and handles over too
Apart from the dailies and night time routines that's the lot for the week, of course if you still want to join us over the weekend you are more than welcome

FRIDAY EXTRA - Don't forget your ME time this weekend, even if it's just a nice relaxing bath or catching up with an old friend, go on you deserve it!!
One day I might be more organised...........

    Hello everyone,

I'm finally back to the land of the living after getting to bed at 4.30am and then not eating anything til 2.00pm today as the hen had no food in the house. I crashed out when I got home this afternoon, and OH said he and my 3-legged-cat had missed me last night, which was really nice. Hopefully with a good night's sleep tonight, I'll be ready for take-off tomorrow.

Welcome back to Dusty the Kitten, and welcome to all newcomers. Fingers crossed for another successful week flying again (I'm starting to get back into the swing of things again, which is good, although working on OH still). Thanks lil_me for posting the list.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, and has a good night tonight. Sweet dreams everyone.

I have just managed half an hour in the garden and filled a large carrier bag. :D Also had a little chat to my next door neighbour who offered to do some gardening for us bless him. He's 70, and they are both fit and active in their own house/garden, but it says something about the state of ours.

He thought i was mad cos i was out there in a vest top, and he's there in a long sleeved top and body warmer and freezing. However, it was lovely on my slightly too pink shoulders.

I will also be going for gold this week to prepare for DH's friend and his fiance visiting next weekend. The friend has been once before for DH's stag do, and i don't want them to think we are slobs since having charlie even though we aren't that bad really, i have my neat freak head on at the minute.

Will be writing my list and posting it 1st thing in the morning charlie permitting.

    Hi again all!:hello:

Thanks lil_me for the thread. i am raring to go tomorrow, my OH is off tomorrow and we are planning on doing something with the boys as its supposed to stay dry.... we will see.

So i plan on getting as much done as possible in the moring then going out for the rest of the day.

Will probably try to do a level 2 as there are 2 of us tomorrow morning, or i may do a level 1 and get OH to start on some of tuesdays chores, will see how it goes, but whichever way we do it, it WILL get done!

I am off to have my feet rubbed by OH now as been working 12-6 and then been on a gentle bike ride (10 times round our estate,.. well a girls gotta take it easy, not been on a bike for over 10 years lol).

OH also read the thread last night and think he realised how the house is really getting me down, i came home today to find he had sorted through the HUGE mound of toys in the lounge and condensed it quite a lot, his next mission should he accept it is to try and condense the toys in the boys rooms and then move the toys from the lounge into the boys rooms, thus creating a toy free lounge! Ah that would be bliss!:D

Anyway off now, so thanks to you all for all the words of encouragement, it has REALLY helped, tomorrow is the 1st day of the new Feisty Flylady!:T

    Byeeee!

Will post a list soon as I know what it is, being not right now cos I'm relaxing.

    Evening all

Started on the front garden after tea. Have done the long bed which divides our driveway from next door. We are the corner house so have a large front garden which takes some looking after. Had our first lot of runner beans for tea.

Just had a mamouth family game of cluedo and I won! This is a real rareity as DS1 and DS2 are really good, fortunately DS3 had swopped teams to be with me so no tears before bed.

DS3 has his first wobbly tooth and is so excited.

Off to check a couple of threads but first my list to clear my brain

Have been lurking around again for months (not finding time to post!). As its school hols am back on house mode. Each holiday it seems like there's less to do - guess the house is starting to come round!! Am going to aim for level 2 tomorrow and sort out DD2's (aged 3) room. DD1 and DS keep giving her things they have 'grown out of' (or dumped on her!) and now I need to have a cull before the poor girl can't get into bed at night! Wish me luck!!
