Weekly flylady thread for 2nd July 2007

Options
Welcome to the weekly flylady thread. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!

Following requests to start things steadier for new members who did not realise the tasks list wasn’t a must do, just an encouragement, we now have levels. There will now be level 1, 2 and 3. Level 1 being very basic it has been requested that this is just one task per day, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. If you want to do level 2 you add the tasks on level 1 with the level 2 tasks, if you want to do level 3 you add the tasks on, easy peasy. Choose a level to aim for but be realistic, if you’ve got a busy day on or are just starting etc aim for level one, if you get higher then great, if not then not to worry its only suggestions. Every room comes back around next week. Trust me some days I'll only be doing level one myself.

THESE LISTS ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS AND NOT A MUST DO LIST, ALWAYS WELCOME TO POST AND FOLLOW YOUR OWN

Also adding a declutter mission each day. Another one where it’s up to you if you want to do it or if you need to. This follows requests from members who are looking to declutter. Fling boogies, hotspot clearing, cupboard sorts, drawer sorts etc will all be on this list. Any problems with this of any suggestions do please let me know.

A few of the basics before we start the week:

Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there loads of other things follow!
Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc
Nighttime routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.
27 Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding 27 items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.
Swish and swipe means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

Manic Monday - Kitchen and Dining Room

FRIDAY EXTRA - Don't forget your ME time this weekend, even if it's just a nice relaxing bath or catching up with an old friend, go on you deserve it :T

Well it's raining just for a change here but nothing like it was last week.

It's three weeks till we go on hols so I should really try and get this place sorted (well better than it is now!) so that it's nice to home to.

First tasks are to find passports so we can e-check in and find the paper part to my drivers licence so I can drive the hire car.

I can say with a smile that I've been going great guns this weekend! However, I must admit that it's only because I've ignored the place completely for the past couple of weeks. :o

Still, I've now done the bathroom, my room, Owen's room, and a full kitchen clean! I still need to hoover the hall and utility room, do the kitchen and sitting room floors and dust the shelves in the front. Oooops and do ALL the windows inside and out. Oh, looks like there's more left to do than I thought. Oh well, mustn't grumble!

Things were going so well here, I thought that the baby had just gently slipped into our lives, but as we all know, things can always change when children are involved. Owen has become an absolute nightmare. My angel boy has started throwing tantrums, punching, shouting and generally being pretty yucky. I really don't know what I'm supposed to do to help him feel better. I try to calm him and be nice to him, but at the same time, I want him to realise that his behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. He's started lying too. I don't know if it's all linked to Freya or if he's scared of going to big school or if four year old boys are just plain horrible in phases. I've been re-reading the Good Child Guide in the hopes that the answer will be in there, but I'm not so sure. Any advice would be gratefully received.

    Please help.

maralum.. boys are always horrible at times!!! I swore after my third boy I'd not have any more boys and had 3 girls after him lol.. my girls are, on the whole, a breeze! Have a look at 1,2,3,magic it is great and works REALLY well with my lot and is about the only thing that does.. as well as being consistent and firm but fair.

Maralum my guess would be that now Freya is here and the initial extra interest that generates in you all Owen is perhaps starting to feel jealous, he is old enough to realise that she will not be going away and he has to share you and Daddy from now on. It all sounds normal and just his way of sussing out his place in the new pecking order. Doesn't make it any easier to deal with but knowing it's normal should help.

Do you give him pocket money yet? If not perhaps you could get him to earn it by helping you with Freya or helping to keep his room tidy/doing his homework/shining his shoes etc. Or what about a new activity for him, cubs, swimming, having a school friend back for tea.

You are right not to tolerate bad behaviour and I am sure he is just as miserable when he is naughty. He will be fine and I am certain this is only a phase.

    Sending you hugs

    Afternoon - hope you're all well :D
    Here I am trying again........
I did manage the dailies last week but not much else. No w**k this week so I'll do some proper cleaning in the morning then ds and I can play till we have to go get dd from school.

Maralum I thought I'd gotten away with it with my dd (2yo) when ds was born - she was fine for about a month. Although she was toilet trained she suddenly started wetting herself whenever I sat down to feed ds. I solved it by taking her to the toilet then sitting her down with a drink and snack and a book or DVD where I could see her while I fed ds. I also promised "mummy" time if she was good while I fed ds - when ds was sleeping I made sure we had 1-to- 1 time where I didn't do anything but play with her. Reward the good, ignore the bad!;) Good Luck! HTH

    Hiya
Well, i'm slowly starting to be normal again. Actually tidied the kitchen up a bit today so i'm going to go for level 1s all week and then back to normal next week.

Shrek 3 was ok, pretty funny in places, but as usual I thought 1 and 2 were better. Did a tesco shop on way home as DH away weekdays through July. Spent £166! Nearly died, but, apart from salad and fruit that should last the month. It better had!

Right, need to pack for daughters school trip now, she's away for two nights and can't wait.

    Have a great week xx

Thanks you lot, I'll definitely try the 1, 2, 3 magic pigpen, he really seems to enjoy the attention he getsfrom being naughty. He pushes an pushes until DH gets angry, then he stands there with an honest-to-goodness smug grin on his face. It's a bit weird to be honest.
