I've had some teething problems with fledgling ASDA home delivery service too. "LOST" drivers, "LOST" shopping, which the local store said they would re-deliver "either later on today or tomorrow", - AKA "at our convenience, not yours". E-mails to their home.shopping@ address bounced back a few days later, 'phone calls to the local store went to voicemail. An e-mail via the contact us page on the web-site got a £5 e-voucher, which given the frequency and seriousness of my problems with their home delivery service is neither here or there.

Last week's delivery the driver had obviously been warned to be on best behaviour. However, some bright spark had packed fresh raspberries, in a bag along with a large bag of onions and a 1.5kg fresh chicken. I was left with a bag dripping raspberry puree over my floor and the rest of my shopping. I was so exasperated at this point, I got my husband to call the helpline to complain and explain not only the general stupidity, but also the wider food hygiene implications of putting soft fruit products in a bag with raw meat. They deducted the cost of the raspberries and chicken from my bill, but the most annoying of all is knowing that I nothing will change in response to my complaint and so I must remember to keep their helpline number on speedial... I anticipate that one day my shopping will arrive complete, free of daft substitute items, on time, without damage.

THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS: Complaining gets you money off, but doesn't really address the real core of the problem... ASDA need to sort themselves out and put the systems properly in place to manage a home shopping service.

AND IT CAME TO PASS - TODAY!

ASDA delivered all my shopping in one piece, without substitute items, within the allotted time slot. I might start to believe in the existence of a higher being (albeit ASDA Walmart), or should I just assume they are reading my wild rantings?

Hi, can anyone help me/offer advice?

I was meant to have a delivery by asda - my delivery slot was 7pm-9pm - it is now 9:50pm and nothing has arrived - i have spoken to customer services who gave me the number of the store. I spoke to the duty manager there and he told me they were running late but they couldnt get hold of the driver as he wasnt answering his mobile - i asked if i would get the delivery charge knocked off and he said no - only if it is about 4-5hrs late??? I thought that if it was 5 mins late you got it free delivery?

I would phone customer services again and tell them you aren't happy and want to make a complaint. Often the first thing they suggest to appease customers is refund the delivery charge.

Just a quick question, this wonldn't be the home delivery operating out of the Ellesmere Port store, would it?

This store once sent me an order out so incomplete that it all fit into one carrier bag. I 'phoned to complain to customer services asking specifically how they thought I could "...feed my family on one chicken korma for the WHOLE week" (about the sum total of the shopping they had sent). Eventually, the duty manager arrived at my door with the rest of the stuff I had ordered...

Clearly, I think a serious whinge is in order, and I would certainly lodge your complaint through the customer services section of the ASDA website. I think it is only reasonable to expect your delivery charges refunded as a goodwill gesture...

    Let us know what happens...

    TD.

hey ppl, just a little update on what happened re my asda order.

So last night my order didnt arrive - I rang again at 10:50pm to ask where it was an got a confused man who told me the home delivery people had all left including the duty manager and the home manager. he said he thought that all the delivery vans were parked up and locked in the garage. as it wasnt his fault i didnt say anything - just gave my name and number for someone to call be back first thing in the morning.

So 9am this morning after hearing nothing from the store I rang customer services and they told me that my order had been cancelled - she told me the only people who could do this were me and the store (yes it was ellsemere port Trolleydash!!!!!). She advised me to ring the store again - I did this and spoke to someone in the delivery section who would go and find out what happened to my order and call me back in 1/2 hour. 1 hr later I ring again only to be told he is in the middle of finding out what happeded and will ring be back .This time he did ring me back - only to tell me that my delivery has been cancelled and that I will not get my money back for 4 days... I asked him what he expected me to do as I had spent my shopping budget for the week on the shop and he said he could not do anything. The reason for my shopping not being delivered was that the drivers palmpilot had shown my delivery as being rejected and he had then pressed reject... apparently you cant go back from there. I asked him why I hadnt been informed and he didnt know anything. I was starting to get a little mift (slight under exageration) at this point and asked him what number i needed to ring to make a formal complaint.

He then ( and this is the BEST BIT) asked me to hold on a minute - and instead of putting me on mute or hold he just put the phone down on the counter and went to talk to his colleague .... I then realised I could hear him down the phone - He said that he had a woman on the phone who was "kicking off big time" and he didnt know what to tell me. He also said that the driver hadnt delivered 4 or 14 (not sure which ) orders and that they were all still in the back of the van and noone knew why. He also told me that none of the customers had been told about it either. So he knew about it and he hadnt bothered to ring anyone to apologise and I could hear him !!!!!ing about me.

He then came back on the line and told me that he would get someone to send my order round - he asked me when i would like it delivered and I said as soon as possible as we hardly had any food in the house - he said that because they would have to hand pick it all again that he could only say that it would be at mine before 12 - giving in i said ok but told him it couldnt be any later than that because i had plans.... So......

At 12:30 I rang the store and said not to bother as I had to go out.

Sorry that was a long one. I am fuming with them. Especially since the man I spoke to didnt have the common sense to put me on hold while he moaned about me to his co-worker.

Does anyone know the best number to call to register a complaint - the other time i only spoke to someone in customer services...

What do you guys think - I'm not being unreasonable am I ??? Noone has rung me back either after being promised by customer services someone form Ellsemere Port would ring me back....

    :(

The words "!!!! up" and "breweries" spring to mind. I thought ASDA Walmart would invest in better customer service and staff training (i.e. "This is the mute button and this is how to use it"). I do wonder whether branching out into associated services is overstretching the organisation - after all, you don't hear of delivery services, be they TNT, Royal Mail, UPS or whoever, branching out into food retail...

Mind you, I think the E'Port Branch have proven themselves in my eyes as having particular "issues"... I gave up with home delivery from the E'Port store, preferring to get my husband to do the shopping at the Queensferry Branch. [He selects the wrong things, selects daft substitute products, cannot follow a simple list, is invariably late and damages the produce, and doesn't charge me £4.75 for the privelege].

I think if I was in this situation I would call the main customer services and demand to speak to a supervisor... talking to the frontline staff isn't getting you far. After all, you should NEVER accept the answer "no" from someone who doesn't have the authority to say "yes". Their reaction to the initial problem has be incompetent, insufficient and their attitude rude - it's simply not good enough...

    Best of luck, TD.
