OMG - thats awful ... I'd definitely write a very strongly worded letter of complaint to them at the very least ... send it to their head office and copy the manager of the local store in charge of deliveries into it. Might be also worth mentioning that if you don't get a decent and fair response, it has been suggested that you speak to the local newspaper about it ... no doubt that would prompt them to deal with you in a better manner.
Have you tried speaking to the other local home delivery shops ... see if they have the same "policy"?0 -
We also had an experience with Asda online shopping last night!
Got a flyer in post advertising free delivery so thought I would have a change from Sainsburys and try them.
Delivery was booked for 3-5pm ( no hourly slots here ) we waited and waited and it got to 7pm no food. After numerous phone calls later and being told there were major road works, 5 drivers off sick we were told the warehouse manager was delivering the shopping himself.
We got a call at 9pm to say he was lost depsite using a Sat Nav, we directed him and he eventually got here at 10.45pm!!!!!
He still had more shopping to deliver elsewhere.....
We naturally complained and were offered e vouchers off next shop this morning. As we dont fancy using Asda again due to the complete !!!! up and not having any food for our tea last night we declined so we are now waiting for the manager to phone to discuss sensible compensation.
Back to Sainsburys next week!0 -
With regard to Trolleydash's exp I am sure you have a case for the DDA. I would point this out to them and threaten local newspaper advertising, I am sure that will make them sit up. Whats the point of home shopping if it isnt delivered to your 'home'???????0

I've had nothing but problems with Asda either. They tried charging me in excess of £180 for a £106 order... then they put the money back into my account, only to take £113 (haven't got a clue where they get they're amounts from!) out 2 weeks later with absolutely no warning!!!! They constantly sent me the wrong items, forgot my frozen goods and were late... The only reason I went for the home shopping thing was to save time (and sanity!) instead of dragging a two year old and a five month old round the local store but I've ended up wasting more time on the phone to customer services.... I think I'll be switching to Tesco!0

Thanks for that, I had used vouchers 3 weeks running and did not know whether to push it again with a 4th don't know if they monitor the vouchers on your account or not.0

As way of an update I haven't heard anything from ASDA since I got a call from the local store's Customer Services. I logged a complaint on their web-site referring to my posting here and quoting it line and verse in the hope they might feel something other than a refund of my delivery charges might be in order... However, they either a) don't rate my complaint as important, b) hope that I will just crawl back under a stone, or c) have taken a contract out on me (Eeeek!)
Thinking more on it, ASDA advertises as being "Groceries to your Door". This is in breach of Trading Standards when they clearly don't, neither does it state anywhere in their standard terms and conditions that they have the right to dump your shopping in the street at their own discretion...
I am not a happy ASDA shopper. Do you think I'd be a happier Sainsbury's or Tesco's one?

Trolleydash - perhaps one of Ellsemere Ports helpful drivers has had a transfer over to Manchester!!
I can't believe that - defintley write a letter of complaint about this. Have a look in their T&C to see if it says anything about flats/apartment deliveries.
Cant write more as on my lunch break at work - good luck. Oh and I found if you ring them enough times you finally get what you want.0 -

Perdita, good to hear from you... Have you got the Roodee mud off your best frock yet?
I think the E'Port and Eastlands staff all went to the same staff training day and shared the same plate of ASDA brand custard creams.
Customer Services 'phoned today, whilst I was trying to feed my bawling baby and the washing machine was on its spin cycle - so it was rather hard to distinguish what they were saying. They appeared to be grovelling somewhat, "take complaint very seriously and proactively" tone of voice, which I'm sure is all to familiar to all disatisfied customers. Wanted me to lay off them for a couple of days whilst they investigated the incident with instore colleagues. I think they began to realise that Trading Standards would be interested, as would the Disability Rights Commission and the Manchester Evening News. They told me categorically that "Groceries to your Door" means "to your front door", not to the pavement outside nor the main entrance in the case of multiple occupancy buildings - so if anyone else is sold the "crock" about "delivery person's discretion", it is plainly untrue.
They suggested that if they got no satisfactory explanation from the home shopping manager, they would "escalate" my complaint to the store manager, which sort of makes you think what sort of hideous crime they have to commit before it gets to that level of radar. They were obviously playing for time and I think they are concerned about me taking my complaint outside the organisation. They offered £10 off my shop and a refund of my delivery charge, but I may have misheard - nope, I didn't, they've sent me a £10 e-voucher and seem to have "forgotten" to reimbuse my delivery charge. UPDATE: They appear to have eventually reimbused my credit card with the charge... Hurrah!
They promised to contact me with the result of their investigations. Meanwhile, I ate one of those "Wagon Wheels" they sent as a substitute for my honey and oat biscuits - a [strike]mouthwatering[/strike] queasy combination of mallow-syntho-choco-ickness with sickly jam in the middle. I think I will sue...
PS: If anyone wants a carton of C&G ready mixed baby formula, I'll leave it on the pavement by the communal front door. I was not in the mood to start to complain about all the daft substitute items that were among my mis-delivered shopping.
