Can someone advise me on what fruit and veg is in season at the moment. A website with a guide would be great!

You have some good links there already, but I printed out the Soil Association chart for myself as a handy way of keeping track: Here
They campaign for supermarkets to stock more local, organic and seasonal produce.
Do you know, Waitrose recently promoted their "in-season" blackberries in stores??? Of course, they forgot to say "in season now in Mexico, which is where we're importing ours from"...BAD! (no, I can't afford to shop at Waitrose...)0 -
I want to say thanks for reminding me about things being in season. I do tend to buy what is in season a lot, partly - or mainly perhaps - because that is what is cheapest & also cos I prefer to go for local produce where possible.
But isn't it a pity that so much produce is imported so that we can have things like strawberries in December etc.
To be honest, I would far rather look forward to having proper home grown strawberries at the right time of year, than having tasteless imported ones any old time.
Must go & pick some rhubarb....0 -
http://www.wfu.org.uk/seasonalveg.htm has recipes for the various things in season each month
On http://www.downsizer.net/Projects/Wild_Food/ we're building up a "foraging month by month" guide - to add to Queenie's list (Carragheen, Dandelion Flowers, Fairy-ring champignon, Hop Shoots, Morels, Nettle, Ramsons, Sea Beet, St George's mushrooms, Sweet Violet) there's Chicken of the Woods, Elder, Asparagus, and Watermint0 -
i know this might sound silly.. but what british veg is in season in february...
i am soooooo used to every fruit and veg being in the supermarket all year round..... i have almost forgotten what is really in season....
plus even though it could say british..... it could have been stored for months....
if it is ok with the mods..... is it poss... for us to have a monthly thread.... stating what is in season for that month......fruit and veg...
i know i would benefit from this.....easpecially if i am going to start going to farmers markets etc for fruit and veg....( if i can find a decent one )
just a thought......Work to live= not live to work0 -

Have a look at BBC Good Food website http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/ and go to Seasonal/Local tab - they update the local stuff for each month
