burnt pan...what to use?

I have a burnt pan (dont ask!!!) that is really really black...the shape of the potatoes are still on the bottom. Now I dont have much in the way of cleaners and so far nothing has worked. Any ideas?

You could try some biological washing powder and boiling water. Leave it to soak for an hour and it should come off.
Just run, run and keep on running!

All of these ideas should work. I personally use the bio washing powder. Maybe a bit of each for this problem might be a good approach?

Someone showed me the boil with salt (lots) trick. The burnt stuff just lifted off - I was extremely impressed!

Coca-Cola works to. If you have some flat or cheaper version of it, otherwise its not very moneysaving!
Just cover the burnt bits and bring to boil and simmer for a bit. Works Everytime (!) for me!!!!!

Its amazing what coca-cola will clean! I've used it as a very effective stripper for varnish before (although its a bit sticky!) - puts you off drinking it though!
I've made my debts bite-size too depressing to look at all at once so am handling them one at a time - first up Graduate Loan £1720 paid off! only £280 to go!!!

Coca-cola also makes a very good limescale remover/cleaner when poured down the loo too ;)
