I work at M&S and noticed there were a few things that are wrong.
I know that Cadburys definitely don't make any chocolates for M&S.
Also that Walkers definitely don't make any crisps for M&S.
As for the coffee, I think they changed supplier when they went Fairtrade. All the coffee sold there is now Fairtrade, ie, in the coffee shops and also on the shelves.

HALFORDS OIL - up until recently was actually Duckhams Oil. Sorry, not 100% sure about it now as Duckhams oil has a greenish tint to it which the Halfords Oil does not.

Maybe someone here can confirm that this is still the case.

I heard this through a classic car owners club of which one member worked for halfords at the time.

Halfords Oils are actually very good. Comparible to Basic big brand oils like
    Castrol etc.

In fact, most Halfords branded car parts are actually right up to original equipment specifications and higher. However for cars like Volvo, Saab (i.e. swedish made) etc stick to Original brand bits. Compare the weight of a Volvo oil filter with a Halfords one and you'll see what I mean.

Don't know about the Halford's oil, but Saab use a lot of Vauxhall/Opel parts (since they are all owned by General Motors). Basically GM designed engines used in Vauxhall Vectras are also used in Saabs. If you have a recent Saab you can go for Vauxhall parts and save some cash.
Hoping this year is better than the last. :)
  • Ok to touch on the boots tony and guy stuff for the people in the http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=270392 thread...

TIGI is actually tony and guy products.

The tony & guy stuff you see in boots stores is actually made by.............BOOTS! but they are promoting the tony and guy name (the contracts they have). Same as A few other hairdressers...Charles Worthington, Beverly Cordelia etc (This was all at the time I was working there).

If there is one thing I will say.....always try the BOOTS equivalents to brand name products (like Laboratoire Garnier, L'Oreal etc) because there is a lot of competition between them all and they all try to match and/or better each other.

Having personally worked for the boots development team and worked on products ranges you currently see on the shelves like Daniele Ryman, Boots Footcare Range, No7 etc etc I'd say boots equivalent products are pretty damn good. I should know! I've made them! Plus you dont pay quite expensive prices like the other companies such as L'Oreal who will charge a bomb!
From shampoos, to footcare to skincare products. I made quite a few products and I'd definately recommend at least trying one Boots product and compare it against your existing product and see if u notice much difference if anything at all....definately save you £££'s in the long run. Sometimes you have to overlook the packaging (and sometimes the smell lol) to fully realise how good the product is. Even if your product is only slightly better...is it worth paying all that extra money when a Boots own brand product will do the same job?
Admittedly if the Boots own brand product is a complete cack then stick to what you use. Not every product will be perfect.

For example the dermabrasion kits. L'Oreal has their own and I dont know if Boots has come out with theirs yet, they were working on it when I left. But having worked on the product within my team, I'd definately say the Boots equivalent is a good alternative...and should be cheaper.

Also Boots products are actually tested by the joe public themselves! Non of it is animal tested. Only after a certain number of positive returns (i think it is at least 55 positive questionnaire responses but I know for some products they require more) do they get the product on the market. Also Boots have very stringent criteria, if the prototype products receives more than one complaint from different people (i.e. causes a rash, dries skin etc) they will reject that sample. But remember there are millions of people out there and at least one person may develop some symptoms towards a product.

Now if you cant trust your own people who can you trust?

I don't want to take away any credit the team I worked with deserve as they looked after me well and we all helped each other in producing good products.

So thats my insider info regarding Boots. Plus with all the deals they are running with points etc I guarantee you wont be disappointed with the product and the savings.

Maybe after reading this and people go out and try Boots products and realise it is the same/or better than their current products they can put a post up to let other people know of their finds?

This may sound all pro-Boots but believe me I don't work for them anymore so I dont owe them anything. All I say is....based purely on the price of a boots product and the price of a Competitor, who would you buy?

    Exactly.

Secondly I now work for a company that makes cleaning products, cosmetics, aerosols etc and maybe I can help save some money and give advice on the types of products to use around the house...

Firstly...I develop wilkinson cleaning products. Yes..it is cheap but it does work!!! Admittedly maybe not as effective as other cleaners but trust me...it has the necessary ingredients to do the job! A little "elbow grease" and it cleans brilliantly! For the price of 30odd pence for people who maybe cant afford slightly more expensive products You cant go wrong! ...I use it at home...and with the new range coming through soon (again this is inside info so please dont sue me I'm trying to help generate sales! :rotfl: ) the products will work even better.

Remember Wilkinson product + elbow grease = job done for 30 odd pence! Much cheaper than paying £2.99 for other products.

Oxiclean products = helped develop the range, good range of products especially Miracle Foam which is a good rival to Cilit Bang (which some of its advertising stunts are...well..I shall say no more) ;)

That's all I can think of at the moment considering it's nearly Midnight!

If people need help then please ask...I'll try to help as much as possible.

HTH you moneysavers to save those extra pennies :)

    Regards

    Abs

They're aimed at different age groups no17 I think are aimed at younger girls but the no 7 stuff is definately the premium brand and as you must know one of the biggest global brands in cosmetics. Definately good stuff. I think some of the products kinda fell in both categories but since I dont wear make up! Maybe tried a few here and there...for research purposes!!:rotfl: I can't exactly but I'm pretty sure it is.
