It's actually better to drill the hole on the back and not underneath as they don't sit flat with the cable coming from below, would you!! I also have found that between 20- 40 LED lights work best. LEd is better as the lights are smaller and therefore easier to get through the hole. I also use ribbon around the sides and tied in a bow on top, wired ribbon works great for this but not essential.

Oh the picture i saw they are slightly raised in the middle but of course if they are flat at the bottom then the back is better.

Saw the rectangle vases in morrisons today for £1.99 and also a circular one with frosty pattern (cant think of word) also £1.99. was tempted to get one but will have a look around the charity shops first :)

I tend to get the kids to sprinkle it on the front door step, so when they are asleep, I go and sweep it up, to make it look like the reindeers have had a munch on it.

I got my lights from Homebase, £4.99 for 40 lights. You can get them in tons of shops. I have also used the battery powered ones if you want them to go somewhere where there isn't a socket nearby. There are plenty of shops that sell the LEd lights.

got a glass vase from charity shop for 75p :) and also a snazzy blue material belt which i'm going to use to wrap round it and some blue pot pourri. 99p store didnt have any lights left and i started to panic, went into wilkos and they had some for £1.98, gutted but then saw the cheap brand for 99p :j
have had a sort of go at doing it but it doesnt look right yet, so a few tweaks are needed
