I have worked in social care, and the vast mjority of Peadophiles were the parents of the child or extended family member. So I dont get at all why a father cant take a picture of his own child, yet abuse him at home.

I too am horrified and saddened that some children will simply have no history. I love nothing more than flickign through old albums of me and my freinds in plays, swimming lessons, brownie camps. I feel so sad for kids who simply wont have a history to look back on.

The irony is that for those who work with Looked after children- their life story books are hugely important- as they wont have thier parents to remind them of what they did as children- so the book is there to have photos for that LAC, so they can then reember their childhoods, who theyve met etc.

Can anyone who works directly with Looked after children confirm what tiher approach is tolife story work with this in mind?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • What you mean is the school is accomodating one child at the expense of every other child, hardly fair.

So my child should be excluded based on the fact that it is at the expense of every other child? All because they are providing her with a full face mask rather than a half face mask?

My child should miss out on being in the same school play that all her friends are going to be in based on the fact that her father turned into a woman and child beating stalking psychopath?

Because of this none of which was my childs fault she should be excluded on all the things that everyone else is doing? All because it could put her and her sister at risk if someone was to photograph her and she was located because of it??

Maybe my child should be told to sit in the class room on her own when the rest of them are doing the school play, lets single her out and make her feel different because of something that is not her fault

Don't know if this has been answered but the permission slip you're asked to sign is for PUBLICATION of pics on the school website and in the press AFAIK
And yet teachers are often asked to photograph children working in the classroom - eg on art activities as evidence.
My DS has photos of himself and a friend taken at school in Y7 modelling some PE work in a lesson. Other children are in the background.
    - dressed accordingly.
These pictures WERE on display in school.

Princessplaty/DirtPoorGuy- schools accommodate all sorts of children for all sorts of reasons - special ed needs, physical needs - so a school has ramps installed because ONE child is in a wheelchair. In your case PP the staff are aware that a pupil needs additional protection. And provide it. (I hope)

Aren't you more worried that while the father is always treated with suspiscion, there have been a huge increase in the number of women who reported as abusing children now, which is often initially overlooked, and as such the mother is allowed much more leaway with their children, and others.

yes, the carers will take photos of the children for life story work
this is what happens whenn i answer questions for brevity, i dont really want to do and essay on all the ins and outs of the children act,
no, not all looked after children are subject to proceedings and not each and every photo needs a court application, however depending on the order and depending on the situation with the child, no social worker is going to agree, without that express permission, that all and sundry can distribute photos of that child.

bottom line is, looked after children = no photos

just to add my twopennorth....exactly how do schools justify the photos they proudly display on their website!

when my GDs were in nursery I was horrified when i went on school website - i was looking for term date info - to find a pic of my gds under stars of the week including their first names! my son went in to school and objected and now they only put up pics no names.......which personally i am still not happy with - but its their website! oh and parents have always been welcome at school plays to take photos of their child AFTER the performance.

We had to sign a consent form for any photo to go on the website

Tandraig - Have your children (parents of GDs) NOT been asked to sign a permission slip for PUBLICATION of pictures to the school website?

Would if be right to simplify it, that as with all children, when the consent form is sent out at the beginning of the year, for a looked after child, the social worker advises where it goes, and, like any other child, it comes back with a yes or no, and is acted on accordingly. So to the school the child is treated exactly the same as the others.

Princessplaty - I was wondering if your avatar picture is of yourself? If so, due to your situation with your ex do you think it may be wise to change it in case he could identify you by your posts?
