it's something I've looked forward to for so long and she's going to spoil it again.
I wish I could afford to give up work and be a SAHM, then I could do what I want with my daughter and wouldn't have to put up with her messing with things.
I don't know what kind of relationship you have with your Mum, but can you not simply tell her this? - "Mum, I really want Charlotte to be amazed at the xmas decorating process but I can't do this until 16th - please don't do yours earlier, as I'd like this to be a magical moment and a memory for the two of us" ?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Morning
Elle - hamsters don't really have much in the way of novelty items. Tigs probably had the best suggestion, but balls are a pretty standard thing so make sure she hasn't got one. What type of home is hammy having? If it's a rota stack you can buy different add on for that
Beccles - I think you need to spell it out to your Mum. I'm sure she just hasn't thought about Charlottes reaction and how you want to see it first.
I had a bad night last night, I was awake at 2 with a full on crying session, from meLiam had been wimpering in his sleep and unsettled for most of the night and started to full on cry. Hubby had already said go to sleep Liam, Daddy will be tired in the morning. I got up to try and settled him, but failed. Hubby came into Liam's room but just stood there watching. I was getting frustrated, Hubby watching was making it worse and the cold was making me get sneezy etc. Told hubby t go to bed and got snapped at. Grr
I took Liam down and had a good cry. Hubby knows the getting up in the cold makes me ill. He complains he's tired but he's not the one who get sleepy ant 9ish but stays up so we can spend some time together,he goes to bed at 12ish, nor does he get up if Liam wakes in the night And him standing and watching does not help.
But, he knows this now!!!! Oops0 -

I told her that yesterday, but she just does what she wants without listening to me.
Still having the long running battle about her giving Charlotte sweets and biscuits for lunch, when I'd rather she had a sugar-free lunch. Too much sugar makes her too hyper and she won't have her nap hour mid-afternoon, then ends up overtired and horrid by tea time. Here I go again on my own....0 -

Don't start on rotastack ... I had this for gerbils, and you just keep on buying and keep on buying and keep on buying ... I had two main rooms, a burrow basement, three towers and a feeding station - all for two gerbils! :rotfl:
Hugs for your bad night.I told her that yesterday, but she just does what she wants without listening to me.
In which case, my only other (non helpful) suggestion is that you throw superstition and custom to the wind, and decorate your house a full week earlier, do it whenever you can but before your Mum does hers!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I'd love to, but I just haven't got the time. I've taken the 16th off on purpose and got too much work booked in before then.
At the minute I'm thinking of cancelling work I've got booked, but I need the cash really and don't want to annoy clients by cancelling as it might affect future work.
Rush the uni assignment but that will affect my overall grade and I can't not do it or I fail the course.
Look at finding a child minder or something to have Charlotte until I get mine up, but that will cost too.
Probably easier just to give in and let her get her own way yet again, and I miss outHere I go again on my own....0 -
Ah Becles, is she doing it on purpose?
MM, I think a great bottle of wine or a wine tasting day would be super cool. Maybe even champagne - Aldi's Monsigny is about a tenner and scored higher than Clicquot in blind taste tests. It's yummy
Morning all - dreadful night's sleep here but the monster has boundless energy again. Husband is having his surgery right now and may be out at the weekend! I have friends coming over from London and it would be lovely if he was out in time.
Edit: saw your later posts Becles - I'd throw caution to the wind and put the decorations up one night after she's already in bed. You can use the 16th to go see Santa
Or can you get an extension on your assignment?Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Aww Becles, I really feel for you... This is the sort of thing my Mum would do... Could you not get hubby to help and put them up once she's in bed she gets to see them first thing in the morning? If I lived close I'd offer to take her for the day for you...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

morning - shouldn't really be on here as have a million things to do before leaving the house at 9.45am! Off to do finger print jewllery at a friends house this morning. DH has promised me a charm bracelet as a 'pushing present' (LO only 9 1/2 months old now!) so I'm having a finger print charm done as a christmas present to me from LO
then we are off to visit my parents for a wee holiday - will try to get online, but might be more difficult.
Sami - fairies will try and get their act into gear, but it may be next week before they find the PO
have a great weekend everyone xxxxxxxr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
beccles - just wanted to send you big hugs. Aren't some people nasty when they chose to be? Why not try and think of something 'different' to do with charlotte around the decorations. Could you make a special decoration for your tree together, or let her 'help' you dress the tree, then have hot chocolate and sing carols around the tree or perhaps have an early present such as a christmas themed book to keep the magic going? That would make it much more special than her grandmas decorations and would obviously be a big secreet so no-one else would know what you were up tor.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0
