Right, time to sort out some sort of to do list for the weekend.
  • Do as many washes as possible Four lots done
  • Clean kitchen
  • Plan year 7 lessons
  • Plan year 8 lessons
  • Plan year 9 lessons
  • Plan year 10 Core lessons
  • Plan year 10 Additional lessons
  • Plan year 11 Core lessons
  • Plan year 11 Additional lessons
  • Clean desk
  • File invoices

It's just a get through as much as possible list rather than a MUST do list. I'm really struggling to think of anything else I need to do to be honest.

Ok more washing on the go....
Waiting for BT to call back about the phone and internet - setting it up for OH and moving things around for me. I'm REALLY hoping they won't charge us the £122.50 service charge for setting up DH down there.

Once this is sorted I can get my shower and crack on with school work. I'm not doing anything major but just going to try and get organised with what I want to do the first week back and equipment orders. I'll have Friday to do some more as well because DH has to go on his speed awareness course!

I've sorted out the TV licenses this morning as well! And the gas and electricity meter readings (£68 in total - but I have been ill 3 weeks out of this billing period - so the heating has been on more than I would have liked).

Had to by a new charger for my laptop as well...£34. ARGH!

Isn't it a pain that we use half-term to do school work! I've got 7 weeks session plans and resources to do this week, but once done I can relax for a bit!

Well, I've done NO school work. Most of it is going to get done on Thursday night/Friday daytime I think. The only time BT can get an engineer to go to the flat is on Friday. DH has to be back here then for a speed awareness course...so I'll be stuck in the flat alone all day waiting for the engineer.

Perfect time for school work me thinks. Still, should mean DH gets phoneline by Friday and internet by Monday! All being well.

My friend has really upset me. I put on facebook about how I was cheesed off that my day hasn't gone to plan - got no school work done because I've been on the phone all day sorting stuff out for DH and tidying/washing etc.

She put "Oh the torment of having half term off to do all your jobs! Us mere mortals have to squeeze them in as and when!"

I'm speechless. You might not get it if you don't teach....but if you do....surely you understand my anger. This is from a close friend as well. Normally I laugh at comments like that but from here - it hurt!

I don't usually get half-term off as I'm not a full-time lecturer so this is my normal annual leave but some people really don't get how long it takes to prepare a lesson and all the materials, then mark the course work and do all the other admin that goes with the job! I'm sure she doesn't have half as much to plan in her job therefore her holiday is her own.

Blah to her, try to ignore and stick with those who know how hard you work and whilst still recovering from illness xx

Thanks evab! I feel much better now I've had a rant. I'm having most of this week off for a change anyway - can't send DH off without spending some time with him! I need to have a look at my MA assignment as well! Boo!

Might just call anything school related a day today before I even get going... I'm just not in the mood now!

Twinklie, just to say I get it. I have never had to work so hard since becoming a teacher and holidays are awful as all the planning is lurking over you for the whole time unless you do it in the first few days. Also, as you work so hard during term time, missing lunch breaks etc and of course school begins for most between 7.30 and 8 and then there is the marking, that when the holidays finally arrive your immune system is kaput and you catch everything that is going. I think I have the flu.

You know what my pet hate is? It's money saving parents who think they will take their little ones away during term time because it's cheaper! Teachers just do not have the option to go outside of term time - you realise that this is just me being jealous would love to go and spend the money on a cheap holiday during term time! I fully understand why parents do this even those that are earning 3 to 4x our salary.

Anyway, I won't complain about the salary and the fact that previous experiences etc aren't taken into account when you join the profession later in life

Ohhh, I could write a book about this.. my 'week off' will be spent:
  • planning maths
  • planning pshe
  • planning phonic groups
  • preparing APP
  • preparing new maths strategy action plan for head (something I get nothing extra for now I am KS2 maths co-ord)
  • planning history
  • catch up on my 2 year writing project
  • do more of the Autism course I signed up for to try and increase my CPD
  • add some video to schools website
  • catch up on new and relevant educational documentation
  • spend some time with MY children
  • get to see my GP and optitian (something I can't do in school time)
  • clean house properly
  • relax!!! (That's a laugh)
Don't get me wrong I love my job, but a week off isn't a week off, believe me and ask any teacher.

Awwww....guys. Thanks for sharing your woes with me. Makes me feel like I'm not alone!! Although Annie your workload sounds slightly more horrific than mine!!!! But then if your KS2 maths co-ord you'll get paid more anyhoo

I love my job and wouldn't change it for the world BUT....I might give it a few tweaks here and there! Still, I'm having a few days to spend with my husband before I can only see him 2 days a week!! I can't believe that my "friends" can't understand why I want to spend time with him this week - given I'm off as well!!

Odd. I really don't get people sometimes!!!

In my primary school KS2 and 1 co-ordinators for Maths and English don't get paid either. Apparently there is no extra money for the SEN co-ordinator either as we are a fairly small school. However, co-ordinating a subject takes just as much work whether in a small or large school or so I would've thought.

But you're paying far less interest each day aj!! It's all swings and roundabouts.

Work is hard work. Nothing in particular has happened BUT I'm just so tired. Mind you, moving my OH down to Wales last week has really taken it out of me as well...soooo much cleaning and running around! Still, it's done now - he's all sorted.

Doesn't help that I had a meeting and two mystery shops to do after work really though.

My personal finances are rather shot though. I'm going to be into my overdraft this month and quite possibly next month! Doh! But I wanted to make sure he had everything he needs. I'm too soft.

Right, it's performance management time tomorrow and then I have the class from help P4 and 5!! 2 hours of year 10 with 2 of the worst kids in school in the same class!! Nice. Honestly, I can't wait to get it out of the way...it's my nightmare lesson of the week! Boo!!

Twinklie
I find this time of year really tiring with the reduced daylight hours; May and June I can be bright as a button at 2300 and awake again at 0330 some mornings, and no problem getting up at 0500. This past week or so has been more difficult - maybe I should hibernate

Hope you get through those classes ok and think of the good kids there who will benefit from the time.

The class was as rubbish as I thought it would be. But it's done now and I've already planned the lesson for next week! Phew! The work day is a bit of a funny one tomorrow as well. So P1 I have yr 11 who are revising for their mock, P2 the student teacher is doing (yey for not being an NQT now so I can have students), P3 is my yr 10s (nicer class), p4 I should have yr 11 but they have an exam! Woop Woop! And p5 I'm on an in school course! YEY! EASY DAY (she says).

I'm so tired I think I'll toddle of for bed soon...before my sense of humour runs out! ha ha.
