Hi, just talked with Primus saver customer services, they state that no over-ride provider ie 1899 or 18185 are allowed when you take their line rental except 1280 which is back to BT. I read on the main e-mail post that written confirmation has been given for 12 months? Also as it is a 18 month contract could anyone advise what happens after the 12 months @ £9.50, what does it change to. Thanks0

Hi, just talked with Primus saver customer services, they state that no over-ride provider ie 1899 or 18185 are allowed when you take their line rental except 1280 which is back to BT.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Hi all. Seeking a little advice here (or maybe clarification )
I was just reading the weekly email and saw the Primus Home Saver offer.
I'm with BT on the formerly called Option 1 tariff and rarely use my landline as I have a mobile with inclusive minutes which is rarely used to the maximum also. Primus is my override provider with their penny 2 tariff (signed up a year ago, maybe more I think). I'm also signed up with 18185 and 1899 mainly for infrequent calls to Jamaica and USA.
Generally speaking I don't make as many calls as I used to and I use my mobile 99% of the time.
Is it worth switching to the Home Saver offer for 12 months?
I have a similar problem.
I am with Virgin on a "legacy" bundle, (Broadband Bundle Three Promotional £9.99 package), don't know why it is promotional, I have been on it since I went to broad band about 4-5 years ago , (ASDL), and pay £9.78 per month,(VAT reduction), for broadband and CPS with free evening and weekend calls. Line rental to BT.
I have just spoken to Virgin and was told that if I go to Primus for line rental and calls, (as per the offer), my broadband will increase to £18.?? per month because I am not on a bundle! i.e. will not be using their service for calls,(which I don't anyway except for the free calls evening and weekends),
I make very few daytime calls, and when I do, use override numbers, 1899,18185, 18866 etc.
This , if true, ( as I could phone again and get a different story), is ludicrous!
Any way to confirm or deny this prospect?Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Have a second line currently with tiscali ( was originally a BT line) .. anyone know if primus can take it over ( and retain number)Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

Hi, I have been with Primus Home Saver for 2yrs, excellent customer service, no hassle what so ever, no rubbish phone calls trying to sell you upgrades, the account runs itself on continuous credit card authorisation, you never pay up front, the bills are always the following month, the collection date is later, on average that is a 40 day credit free period from the end of the month, plus you gain up to 40+ extra days depending on when your credit card payment falls due. Worth checking out!0

just been looking at the Post Office deal which seems good
£11.75 a month
at the moment i am with 24talk , was called onebill paying £10.75 a month line rental but none of the extras like the post office
and tiscali £14.99 for broadband
what do i do or what happens if i want to go with the post office deal for phone line rental, do they take care of all things or do i have to contact 24talk and cancel my self ?
also anyone think post office is good for broadband as well? Home Phone with Broadband Extra £24.95 just under £2 less all together on what i am paying now
or would that be a lot of messing around trying to cancel broadband and line rental from 2 companys?
thanks for any advice0 -
Always been with BT myself, but if Primus offer cheaper line rental, no reason not to consider. Just wondering though, during the switch, is there any downtime?
Also, my broadband is with Be unlimited and relies on the phone line, I presume there is no impact on that?
Thx!0 -
We've been with Virgin (previously Diamond Cable & NTL) for many years but at the moment we are paying £32 a month for:
- Phone with free weekend geographic landline calls
- Unlimited 10mb broadband
We both have mobiles with inclusive minutes (I got my contract with Orange only recently, my wife has been with O2 for ages).
Orange are offering mobile contract customers 8 mb broadband with a monthly limit of 10 GB for free. I reckon that's enough for me. If not O2 is doing unlimited for £7.34 a month for their mobile customers.
The Post Office's basic home phone at £11.75 per month would more than replace the Virgin landline package,
So I could cut the monthly internet and phone bill by £13 to £19 per month or by £21 per month to £11.75 if we only use 10GB on bandwidth..
All I need is a BT line. We have a BT socket but no dial tone. Is there any way to tell how much it would cost to get connected?
Also is there any way to measure internet usage so I know if we will fit into a 10GB limit?0
