Looks like its hours away from going off air. STV reporting that meeting are taking place in London with the directors to tell them the company will be placed in to administration. Apparantly it will go off air tonight.
What happens with out subscriptions? Do we need to contact them to cancel?
If I recall correctly, when OnDigital/ITV Digital went belly up, I cancelled my direct debit forthwith just to make sure no further collections could be made!
"Digital Plumber" - now CEA-CompTIA DHTI+ certified !
Yes, updated report from STV suggests that Setanta will be a goner @ Midnight tonight, and will officially be placed into administration tomorrow morning. STV work in partnership with Setanta, and even share the same studios I think in Glasgow, so I think they may be spot on.
My husband has subscribed to Setanta for several years now and they take payment once a year direct from his bank account. As it is not a DD debit how on earth does he cancel it or will he need to close his account to make sure they do not take any more.
Just heard the Setanta staff have a meeting tomorrow morning at 9am. That basically means... goodbye.
I would see what happens tonight pondskater. If it goes off air, then you would have to contact your bank to make sure they dont take any more money out of your account.

What sort of payment is it-DD or SO? If it's not either of these then it's a recurring debit payment from your debit or credit card and you cannot cancel it-only the payee can. So you'll have to wait for the administrators to sort it out.
I signed up to Setanta (paying on a month to month basis) using my credit card. I then set up a direct debit with my bank to pay off my Setanta bill on my credit card.
Do I just phone up the bank and cancel my direct debit or do I have to do another procedure as I'm paying for Setanta on my credit card ?
I pay for it using my Tesco Mastercard, would it be best to call them to stop all payments to Setanta?
That doesn't work with a Continuous Payment Authority. They are dangerous because setanta can keep claiming the money, even if you cancel your card or close your account!!

Eh? If you do that you will just get penalty charges from your credit card company, they will continue paying Setanta for as long as Setanta or the administrators keep applying the recurring charge.
Are you saying that this credit card is only for paying Setanta? You can only use a DD to pay off a credit card bill, you can't specify which items on the CC bill it is applied to!
Seems a bit much that you cannot cancel a recurring payment from your own bank account. Are they taking it directly from the account or through your card and if through your card would it be stopped if you 'lose' that card and request a new one? Hope I am making sense here.

Nope, cancelling your card doesn't work
