Did anyone else have chopped up egg in a cup when they were little? :D Mum used to literally chop an egg into teeny pieces, mix butter and black pepper in and serve with soldiers. (had to be in a cup :))

JJ, we had special egg-cups just for egginacup! One end was a normal egg cup and the other end was similar shapped but much larger especially for egginacup icon7.gif

Wish I had kept them, they would feature on Antiques Roadshow now icon12.gif

PP, can you not check with your surgeon as to what you should be eating or not

My children love poached egg on toast, as you are trying to cut down on bread what about poach egg and grilled tomatoes and mushrooms, or omlette. Must say I like porridge as it keeps me full until lunch. How about trying some stewed fruit in porridge to see if you like it better.

I make up muffins for "breakfast on the run" type days. My favorites are carrot, apple and raisin and wholemeal blueberry / cranberry. If you use dried fruit you can really keep the sugar down and if you use wholemeal, or add oat bran they keep you full for ages. They freeze really well and you just need to remember to get them out the night before if you don't have a microwave. Try typing "muffin recipies" into you favorite search engine and you'll get a tonne......

I'm trying to get two of my 5 a day fruit / veg out of the way at breakfast time so we've been having a lot of fruit salad, bananas, pineapple (when on BOGOF!!)

    Yoghurts
    egg and potato cakes
continental platter (cold meats and cheeses)
  • I like bacon and mushrooms or bacon and beans!

    Greek yoghurt and honey.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
