Porridge is a great winter tummy filler and can be adapted by adding some pureed fruit. (I usually put a sprinkle of brown sugar on top)
Rice Pudding - (yes, for breakfast!) - with fruit.
Fruit Smoothies a la "You are What you Eat" - basically just ... fruit! (very filling!)
Any left over bread and butter can be toasted the next morning (buttered side last!) and then a teeny spread of marmalade.
Freeze ahead some pancakes and then they take mere moments to serve on the morning (vary the fillings/toppings)
Beans on toast

Oh Queenie, you're making my tummy rumble!
I usually have porridge each day - at between 37p and 43p a bag (depending on where I am shopping!) - the value porridge oats is a moneysaving star! It also has the benefit of stopping me snacking mid morning because my tummy is nice and full (you can also use it as a base for museli .. add seeds, nuts and dried fruits and I also use the porridge oats when making flapjacks)
OH swears by Shreddied Wheat (we stock up on the 50% free offer boxes when they are around as Shreddied Wheat has long sell-by dates)
DD usually has a yoghurt and a glass of orange juice and if the bread has just come out of the breadmaker, a warm slice of bread
Yesterday I treated myself to boiled egg and soldiers ...
... sometimes I have home made bread spread with HM lemon curd or Jam
When eldest daughter comes to visit I buy in a pack of cereals but this Christmas she's discovered that our food isn't that bad  and had fried egg sandwiches! (HM bread and free range eggs of course!).
Don't know what younger families will think to this sort of thing ...
... now I'm positively drooling and I'll have to go and may some breakfast for myselfEnjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Mine have Cereal (Bran Flakes, Weetabix etc - always shop own!) paying attention to sugar/salt levels with Full Fat milk (under 5s)
A Yoghurt (small one - haven't ventured into making my own yet!)
A Slice Toast with Marmite or HM Lemon Curd or Jam
A piece of Fruit
And they are very regular!!!!!
Its not really a lot - but a little, frequently. Mind you, although they don't seem to get bored with it, but I get bored serving the same meals!
Porridge and puree fruit sounds lovely, as do the pancakes and freezing them! A small addition to my shopping list methinks!0 -
Anyone else remember ... "Pobs"??
When really hard up, our mum would make it for us for breakfast
Basically, hot milk poured over bread until the bread went mushy then sprinkled with a bit of sugar if sweetness were needed (I suppose you could use jam)
Ok, ok, it doesn't sound particularly appetising, *but* it was a great way to fill an empty tummy, use up any leftovers, didn't take long and ... ... (I'll shut up :rotfl: )~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I know beans on toast has been suggested already, but I read somewhere that a study had found that children who had beans on toast for breakfast were able to concentrate better at school than children who had had cereal.
I frequently give my kids value beans and toast for breakfast, also porridge is a standard in our house.0 -
Shredded Wheat any time for me. It's healthy wholegrain, with no added sugar, salt, or other baddies.
Or one egg on toast and then a piece of fruit.
Or porridge as suggested above.
Or, in the summer, a large portion of live yoghurt with loadsa fruit.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
crumpets with butter and jam are one of my faves.0
