The rates are extremely poor now , but theres no other option for my tax situation or another gambling option without losing my stake.
I dont understand why the govt has essentially made these useless , you would think that they would want some capital in hand to do this stimullous they are doing.
The interest rate , or the prize pot as it should be called , should be at the very least the same as it was before , after all it was already somewhat lower than a decent savings account on the high street to begin with.Historically they are now at the lowest rate they have ever been , correct me if I am wrong.
Perhaps martin should start a petition and getting some of the papers involved?Have you tried turning it off and on again?0 -
£5 held (n.b. five pounds, not 5K), bought in 1974 and 1975. Never won a single penny, but I do have nice retro 70s bond certificates.0

the current crisis in banks has been exacerbated by them lending more than they have available in deposits. the deficit then has to be found from somewhere, and it's been us taxpayers !!!!
they should be encouraging savers by giving a decent rate of interest to thereby up their asset sheet.
but no, everyone seems hell bent on rewarding/helping those who want to borrow ..... (more)0 -

I agree they should have reduced tax on savings to increase deposits and reduced mortgages to 80 percent max.Gone are the days of bank managers loaning to customers only , perhaps that was part of the problem also. They also should have had a loan tax on credit/store cards.
But then again whom do we think we are to attempt to know better?Have you tried turning it off and on again?0 -
I'm going to complain to the Premium Bonds.
My husband bought some more bonds in October.
They were eligible for December's draw.
Haven't won a thing.
Think I'll ask NSI to take them back and give him some better ones.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I used my 28k of ice save money to put into premium bonds I did it on the 30th November, when is my first monthly draw? Am hoping to top up to the max in a few weeks, I don't use it as a savings acocutn, jsut somewhere to keep my money where I know it's safe and if I win yay if not, no big deal!
Also my mum got £1 when she was born (several years ago!) and the month after my dad's first max holding draw about 10 years ago he got £50 and my mum got £500 on that one little bond!
With cheques coming out isn't it done alphabetically, my Dad's surname is M and he tend to get them around 15-18 of th emonth my boss is B she got hers around the 5th I think and so as I'm (now) J I'm guessing mine will be around the 10th?
HHell yeah!!0 -
your bonds should be in the draw from January 20090
