Stef beat me to it....I want to nominate this one too!!!!!
I've had a pretty cr***y year all in all, and despite some hope at the moment, have been feeling a bit depressed in the run-up to Chrsitmas, but JulieQ's posts have made me cry with laughter instead....Definintely 'Post of the month for December/Christmas' (and she may need the dosh to sort out her house after the 12 days are over - LOL!!!!)The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

Ehallett's - Payment a Day thread.
This thread has changed my life. I know that sounds extreme, but it truly has. My light bulb moment came in July 2008 when I probably had over £20k of debt, drifting along with no plans of how to pay it all back. Die in debt! that was my motto, but along with other threads on how to save money, this was the thread that gave me the focus to ensure any extra cash was applied to the debts.
Whilst I have not been checking in that regular just lately, when I need to gain inspiration, I just pop back and have a quick read of the comments of others.
All my credit cards will be cleared before the end of this year and that feels fantastic. I will be credit card free!! I have one car loan remaining, which I estimate I can clear this Summer 2009, 3 years early.
Ehallett, you taught me that little payments count and so I make simple payments to my debts to give me that feel good factor and you were right and it worked. Some days it was only £1, other days I paid a lot lot more. But your thread is right
A payment a day............
............makes the debt go away!!!I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -
E-Hallett's Payment a Day thread for me too :T
Because of this simple idea, i have become far more focused and pro-active in repaying my debts. The thread has made me think even more carefully about the odds and sods i spend, what i do with extra money that comes into my hands and what i do with any change i spend.......IT ALL GOES TO REPAY A DEBT!! Alongside this i have even managed to save some money to buy an old car!
Thank you Emily for sharing a fantastic idea :idea:One step at a time0 -
Me too.. I was completely having an ostrich [strike]moment[/strike] lifestyle and before I knew it whilst on holiday in France I discovered this thread. Since then I'm proud to say that I think the exact date was 8th August, I haven't missed making a payment a day. First I cleared First Direct then as of today I have cleared my Egg card.
The people on hear have mad me laugh, made my cry and I have trully felt their pride and their pain.
I will be tackling a new debt from tomorrow and have completely and utterly changed my outlook.
A relatively simple idea....I think will be with me for life.
Thank you a thousand times to Emily.
