A payment a day............

............makes the debt go away!!!

I need to start getting rid of my debts again. All my money seems to go on bills and stuff at the moment but I thought if I could just take 1 debt and make a payment to it each and every day then it will soon disappear (in theory!!).

So I am going to try this with my smallest debt first which is my Barclaycard. It currently stand at £389.90.

So I will HAVE to make a payment to this card every day, even if it is just a penny.

Today, I have made a £5 payment from my debit card and another £8 payment via internet banking so my current total is now £376.90.

If anyone wants to join me then you are more than welcome :D .

    what a good idea, ive got internet banking and might do this with you, but to clear my credit card, the other 2 debts are overdrafts and i dont want to ring up everyday and ask them to reduce my overdraft by a penny...lol, although could be a laugh!

    The bank might get so fed up with you that they might pay off your overdrafts for you!! :rotfl:

    I like this idea too, maybe not every day for me as getting to the right places can be a nightmare, but every week i could use all the spare change in my change pot to pay another bit off the credit card, or any leftovers from my daily budget can be used. Thank you for a good idea!!!! I'm really struggling with how to pay my debts back (even though they are tiny in comparison to some) but this may make a slight difference!

    Its a good idea. I like it. I had thought where I used to spend £1.50 per day on 2 bottles of Coke - and I am trying to reduce the coke completely I could make a payment of the money I save to one of my debts.

    I think I might start to do this now. Well done.

    I really like this idea too. My 'debt' is my extra mortgage that we used to get an extension and house repairs. We have a one account so if I leave money in rather than spending it then it reduces the debt. So, i'll join your challenge by not buying things I don't need therefore reducing the debt (if that makes sense!!).

    My first saving is a refund for £174 that I wasn't expecting....I was going to use the money for a treat but that's the start of me paying back the debt. So money saved - £174!! xx

    Oooh i've just thought - this will help me shed a few pounds too, if i'm not allowed to spend money on non essentials I can't buy carp to eat!!! That's the theory anyway! xx

    Welcome all :D .

    If you didn't want to physically make a payment off the card/loan/savings etc every day then you could put some money in a pot everyday instead and then maybe pay this money off once a week/fortnight/month - as long as you put something towards it everyday then it counts :D .

    This could work for all sorts of things, loans, credit cards, savings, mortgages, holiday funds etc etc - everyone is welcome :j .
