They'd have to know this....my approach to avoid Mr T knowing my movements is always to use cash and avoid using the clubcard.

I guess you could add spread it around and abuse many different stores and not just the one, too.

I look at it as more "embarrassing" the stores, not abusing them, as they are overcharging you after all.

They are abusing their customers by overcharging them and keeping their cash, are they not?

They only offer double the difference to keep you sweet re their errors! ;)

Very cheap compared to the Tesco price of £4.99 for the same product:T

There was no SEL for the Penny Bank jobbies, so only the clued up people know!!:D

found some in my local store ... SEL said £3.74 ... scanned at £1.87 ... so clearly 50% off :)

That's not entirely accurate for ny local - yellow SEL at £1.87 - marked reduced to clear.

  • It's never entirely the stores fault. I work for a Tesco Express (God help me), we we're pretty close to 3 schools. When the kids come in, they take off the SELs and deposit them around the store.

Sometimes it's only a small difference in price, but if it's a large difference (well, any difference at all really), just refuse to pay and tell them the SEL Price.

9/10 on Low Margin prices they will just reduce the item down to the SEL price for you.

The most they will do is go to the location of the item, and check the SEL.

Saves the hassle of buying everything, paying out all the money, then having to wait for customer services to sort out the dilema.

Although, on a plus side, you can make a fortune from this :P

I'm not sure I follow what you're saying. Are you suggesting that if school kid moves a 20p SEL for say a bar of chocolate to the shelf where there are £5.50 soap powder then there is some doubt over the price to be paid?

As much as I consider Mr T to be a well over priced store and deserving of being hit with every DTD that anyone can find, even I wouldn't expect to pay (or Mr T to honour) the price shown on a SEL in the wrong location for a completely different product.

Can you clarify or is it me?

Don't really pay attention to anything other than the price on the SEL but is there not a description of sorts on it? Obviously the writing would be tiny but they could argue that the label clearly did not relate to the product it was above/below? Couldn't they? Would anyone seriously think that a £5 odd box of soap powder could be sold for 20p (as an extreme example). Think I'll pretend I'm a schoolkid again, swap tickets and be quids in lol :D

All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.

  • Hardy's 'stamp' Shiraz & Chardonnay wine SEL expired yesterday.

They were reduced by £1.50 from £6.13/£6.12 to £4.63/£4.62, DTD took them down to £3.13/£3.12 per bottle.

SEL has a barcode on it which should match it exactly to a product, so Mr T can't disagree.
