KE are giving out some seriously conflicting info at the moment as I read through this forum. The cynic in me says why do they need to bother anyhow - its not like they have any further career prospects within KE anyhow (of course ING is an altogether different issue)!

I have spent an lengthy amount of time on the phone to KE chasing my CHAPS payment made at 9:30am Tuesday. It has still not arrived at my receiving bank (cahoot). I have spoken with two contact centre managers and have been told that 1. its all being held in a suspense account and I will get it ....eventually..., and 2. Its all going through and the whole CHAPS system is being slowed by the volume of transfers taking place so it will arrive shortly, its just a delay.

There is a statement on the FCSC website (http://www.fscs.org.uk/consumer/) that about 3,000 customers accounts will not be transferred to ING and they will need to make a claim.

However on a positive note I would just like to put on record the fact that I think to date the relevant government departments are doing an o.k. job in very difficult and challenging circumstances. That's not to say I am going to sit back and wait for things to happen but fair comment where its due (please don't bombard me with abuse, its just my humble opinion).

The 3000 accounts are NOT EDGE clients, they are Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander

And I think the KE staff ARE bothering because their jobs may be transferred to ING

Been glued to the forum for days now and it has been a great comfort and source of knowledge. The beginning of the week was highly stressful and many people were actually ill with worry with life savings threatened. Just been chilling out with some music and this grabbed me
“Someday we’ll look back on this and it will all seem funny.”

Let us hope that will be very soon.

  • I do think it's a bit bad that whereas with KE we were covered by the UK compensation scheme, now that ING have taken over the first wodge of cash needs to be recovered from the Dutch authorities, which surely is going to be more hassle.

I certainly didn't ever agree to that.

No it doesn't! You will only need to recover from the Dutch authorities IF ING subsequently went bust too. As it is, they've taken over the accounts so will be servicing those accounts with their own money, so no need to recover/claim money from any government/compensation scheme.

If you don't want to be a saver with ING, remove your money?

Channel 4 News just went into the Kaupthing Edge Transfer issue. The 'advice' is not to worry, your money is safe even if its not showing. Easier said than done! Apparently, your money will be re-credited rather than move to your linked account.
  • Text message from nomorekids following Channel 4 interview:

"I really hope they use footage about forum but they just wanted my story. They have bundled me out of building so I can't even watch"

"I hope I've done everyone justice. APACS have said all money bounced back apparently"

Could I propose a vote of thanks for all her efforts?
