Right hun, its time to move on to the financial ombudsman service, now that you have received your final response.
Did they actually mention that you can now complain to the FOS in your letter ?
They have fobbed you off and you have received a standard response that most have had here.
Get that complaint form in to the FOS hun.
And good luck!

Hi again
Just phoned Bank of Scotland and was told that my PPI was a single premium policy.
I am to get a refund that "put me back to a position had I not taken the PPI".
My original loan was £5000 + £971.68 interest at 5.8% apr.
PPI was £2131.20 + £414 interest.
My payment each month was £118.29
Did find a PPI calculator but not sure what to do with it:(
What am I likely to get back?
My loan started in April 05. I had actually opened it in Jan 05 but deferred the start until April 05.
The loan was then settled in Apr 08.
Anyone able to give me a clue?
Thanks0 -

Well that is good news.:D
Did they agree to refund on the basis of mis selling or are they stating as a "goodwill gesture"?
Right, okay then hun, I am a nightmare even with a calculator lol  , someone is bound to come on here later who will be able to help you more here with your calculations.;)
Maybe Tiggrae, with a bit of luck.
Well done hun.

Hi again all
I posted last week to report on success with London and Scottish via the FOS, well today FOS have written to me to say that Halifax, although it accepts no liablility, as a gesture of goodwill is willing to make an offer to settle the complaint!! :j
Basically it will put me in the position had I not taken out PPI, however they have told FOS that it may take around a month from the date of my acceptance to make payment.
Only thing is the letter also says that it may be necessary to close the existing loan and process a new loan as part of the process - I am not sure how this would work as I am on a DMP?
Anyway, thanks again to everybody on here (including M.colak who I know doesn't post much anymore but was a big help on this one when I started it!) and especially thanks to you Di as thanks to you I have been fast-tracked on both my complaints with FOS - I wouldn't have known about that possibility without you.
Will post again when I get some figures.
Regards

Hi there Amanda
And WOW, well done !!!:j .
I am at the process of requesting for fast track on my recent complaints with the FOS, glad it helped, brilliant.:D :j .
Regarding your question about the new loan, Tiggrae will possibly give you the best advice here, maybe Marshallka as well. Good luck with this one hun, this is great news.;)

Thanks for the link. My single monthly payment was £236.39. Im guessing the £32.39 was the PPI which near enough matches with the amount I was told on the phone.
While I was on the phone I asked how much PPI I paid. I was told it was 38 months. She confirmed it was PPI x 38.0 -

Phew....... , just been scanning documents to my computer for the FSCS, all done and sent now.
Its only underwriters paperwork but they do state the name of the firm who dealt with the policy. (Twopart/Eloan), hopefully this will be okay because I have nothing else. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
