What can I do with fresh tuna steak?

Options
I have two tuna steaks that I bought (reduced) a couple of weeks ago that are in the freezer and I need to use them up as flatmate is defrosting the freezer soon so I am running all the food stocks in it at the moment.

Don't want to have to buy a whole load of ingredients but want to use the tuna steaks up.

What do you guys suggest?

marinade quickly in a little lemon juice, olive oil and chilli. cook quickly on a griddle pan (about 2-3 mins on each side). serve with egg noodles and stir fry veg.

    Yum

Great finds Ted :) I've just done my monthly shop and forgot, yet again, to buy some fresh tuna steak to experiment with.

If I had a car I'd go get some right now to try that Asian Tuna! It looks seriously yummy!

You could have a go at sushi

Or quick griddle it on both sides and serve with pasta and a pesto sauce

Mmm, yum. I think I will go with the pasta idea this time as I love pasta and pesto but I have to try some of the other ideas too. Think I will get it out of the freezer tomorrow for dinner on Fri evening. Can't wait!

    Thanks again to all.

I sprinkle Cajun over mine and cook it on the griddle - have it with pasta and an arrabiatta type sauce.

    Mmmm....

The only time ive had tuna steak is on a barbecue, it was yummy, had a chilli lemon type marinade, and was served on a seaweed sheet and a vegetable wild rice - lovely! I dont know the recipie, but I think it would be easy to make it up.

  • Hi there,

I have just found some tuna steaks in the depths of my freezer - the date is AUG 05 - is it still okay to defrost and eat?

    Many Thanks

Yes, I'd eat them. If they look a bit dry, drizzle with a little oil. I've eaten stuff older than that, and lived to tell the tale!

    Hope you enjoy them.
