Just needed to get myself focused and enthused a bit more now we are getting down to the last few £1000's. I should be really happy and excited but to be honest I'm not and feel a bit deflated as there is so much else going on right now. So I thought I would start this thread so I can post on here and update how things are going with themaccas. I've 3 things that I need to focus on:
1. Clear our debts! nearly there now and hoping to have them paid off by end of March. They are:
First National: £212.56
Capital One 0%: £922.40
NatWest 0%: £1019.34
Total £2153.20 - WAS £44,848.88 2 years ago:j
2. We need to sell our house asap as OH is posted and we need to move 80 miles away, we have priced our house very competatively but no viewings since it went back on the market 3 weeks ago (They have been marketing it since July 07 but we moved back into it in September and we went to discreet marketing between Sept-Jan). Yesterday we gave our EA's 16 days notice to cancel the contract and we are going elsewhere. However we now have a viewing on Saturday except it is a couple who haven't even got their house on the market yet! This is my main stress right now.
3. We need to save like mad at the moment because we have a holiday to pay for - need to raise £6500 by April:eek: That was not a particularly a good idea to book a holiday last April when it all seemed so far away! Never mind at least it's something to look forward to.
So I'm going to look forward to the countdown and becoming debt free, hopefully everything else will fall into place

I can hear the music 'the final countdown' playing. You've achieved so much so far I'm sure you'll do it and having a diary will be a great motivator and record of your achievements when you're debt free.
Any equity in the house - that would help the debtfreeness.
P.S I can't believe how much you've paid off - congratulations.Making my money go further with MSE :j
How much can I save in 2012 challenge

I cant believe how much you have reduced your debt by in just 2 years! That is absolutely fantastic, you have come so far, dont let the last leg of your journey get you down! If you reach your target of clearing the debt by march imagine how you will feel going on holiday in april totally debt free!!!0

            Thanks everyone
mummum2: We started off in the first year paying back at an amazing rate by me working extra shifts, budgeting within an inch of our lives, cutting right back until we squeaked! We are lucky in that we earn quite a bit between us so we were able to make quite big payments towards our debt - £1200-£2000 per month, then we got a refund of bank charges and we cashed in our endowments when we changed our mortgage but mostly it has been paid back by spending less. We have had a white board in our kitchen since we started and use it to record every single spend so we can see if we are meeting the weekly budget.:A
dancing fairy: We do have quite a bit of equity - around £150K (in the current climate) so that will certainly help when we look for something else and buy - eventually!!
Twinmummy, sammiboo, chevalier, taxi: thanks for your encouragement! Much appreciated:beer:
Today has been a bit of a spendthift day though. DS1 has been invited skiing in Italy with his best friends family - all expenses paid, bless them:T Just needed to get him a few bits though - 4 pairs ski socks, woolly hat, goggles - came to £50 all from TK Maxx, was hoping to get it all a bit cheaper
Then OH and I had another golf lesson and we were going to get some brand new clubs but the golf pro thinks we should just buy second hand ones for now - polite way of saying we're not good enough for 'real' ones yet:rotfl: :rotfl:He's going to sort us out with some next week and has said when we are ready to buy some new/custom ones (could be quite a way in the future  ) he'll give back what we've paid for the second hand ones. How MSE is he:T :T :T . Then we bought a coffee and cake after golf - £8.40. But it was yummmmmm Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0 -
