Broken Samsung D900 Screen

Hey everyone,

Whilst watching TV this evening i picked up my d900 to notice that the entire screen is cracked and therefore unuseable.

Obviously i have no way of proving it conclusively but there is no way i touched the phone in any way to cause the cracking of the screen. After reading report after report of similar problems it seems that this is a common issue in these phones and i was wondering what people would recommend in terms of getting it fixed?

My phone is appox. 4 months old and therefore within warranty but ive got a feeling samsung are going to tell me its my fault the phone broke, even though its a common fault. Just to add to it, if i wanted to get it fixed it would cost in the region of £70 which as a student, i just cant afford.

Any ideas/comments appreciated.

  • Hi,

Try whoever you bought it off first, if this was your service provider or a retailer then they should help you. If they can't help then try samsung

If you don't get any joy PM me as I work with Samsung (we are one of their biggest customers) and will put you in touch with the relevant Samsung people.

I have two of these phones and they are fine so far.. but when you press even slightly or even if you slide the phone up with the screen i notice the lcd pressing in, right in the middle. Not very safe!

Not sure about the warranty situation but my girlfriends had the same fault after she dropped it and it was trampled on. Carphone warehouse fixed it for £40.

thanks for your replies.. The thing is if it came to it and i had to pay the £40 i probably would but that doesnt guarantee me that it wont break in future and it could be a waste of £40 within days!

basically im not willing to pay for its repair so im going to try and speak to o2 and samsung and see if they can do anything about it!

i was in the car phone warehouse a fortnight ago talking to the guy who worked there who also knew my sister. He said the samsung slidy phones were prone to breaking coz of poor manufacturing. He recommended she took her phone to the car phone warehouse reapir shop and they'd check to see if her phone was weak and they're replace it for her.

I also had this trouble but fortunately i had insurance with vodafone. I have to pay £25 excess and i get the screen replaced, thinking about it i should have "lost" it, then my excess gets me a new phone and not another refurb screen!

Any update Stu_Dent? I'm in the same boat as caroleanneclark and don't want to get one of these if they're prone to breaking.

    Thanks
