DWP employment waiting list

This is my worry - that a government letter congratulating me on my success and stating that on completion of successful checks I WILL get contacted with a start date may not now be worth the paper it's written on !!
Surely this letter must carry some weight and used as proof that they need to stick with their side of the deal.
OH GOD!! I have not even had a letter! Just a phone call..:mad:0 -
I wonder how this goes for those who were only interviewed last week...Nottingham...and I believe this is their first recruitment intake this year!! Not sure whether I should be waiting for a success letter or a sorry we are no longer recruiting letter!!0

Thanks Jess, going to email them now!!
This is a message received today in response to my e-mail of yesterday !!
Hi , I am sorry but we cannot help with this as we only deal with
Payroll problems for DWP staff. I have however forwarded to the Customer

helps.

She said that i was 32nd on the list, and in regards to the freeze, not to worry. She said its not going to take long to process the information they need to, and they will start posting again in the next few weeks and that the order of the merit list will stay the same...so altho it might take a few weeks longer our jobs will still be granted. She also told me that 78 people have been posted in my area in the last 2 weeks so not to be disheartened because it will happen, and she said the likelihood is that it will defo be b4 xmas. She also said that the reason we have not been informed of this "freeze" is because its not going to directly affect us people on a merit list other than having a few weeks of a longer wait, and that it really is not as bad as it has been made to sound. Basically they done a mass recruitment and got a much bigger response than they expected to so they have been left with masses of people who have been successful. Until they can compose the lists and find out exactly how much people they need in certain areas they want to freeze the process to make it easier to handle but regardless of this there ARE still jobs to fill. She seemed to be very sure of what she was saying so im not panicking at the minute. I think if your on the merit list your ok, but if your on a 12 month waiting list...well im not sure. I think most of us are on merit lists tho eh?
Well done for getting through to someone !!
At least what you have been told sounds a little more positive.
Thanks for the info

I think some regions must be a lot worse at telephone answering than others. I still can't get through on any of the numbers I have, just ringing out,0

After your interview stages did you not recieve a letter to say you had been successful? Strange! I thought u got the success letter and a phone call with a start date! either way if you have been told youve been successful u should be ok but id def phone up to check where ur letter is! Its always good to have something in writing!0 -

Nottingham may be one of the areas not affected by the freeze. Im not sure so dont quote me on it, but if they only done interviews last week then i would imagine that is the case as it would be pretty pointless interviewing otherwise0 -

I have four kids and the youngest is 11, so they are old enough to understand. I dread to think what like it must be like for those with wee ones who still "believe". They all want the latest gadgetry and seem to think that money just magically appears in bank accounts. My four have always had to make do with second hand stuff - this looks set to continue for the foreseeable future thanks to the DWP and their chaotic recruitment programme. Snarl...............:mad:0 -
I can't be doing with another day like yesterday:mad:
Gonna try a couple of times this morning, then looks like I will have to resign myself to the fact that they are just not going to give us any answers !
Jess, I got the same reply from that email I sent yesterday....

spoke to Louise this morning, she was very understanding and said she would get someone to call me back as she couldn't view my IRC on the system.
However, I attended an appointment at my local JCP this morning for my Work Focused Interview and my case worker has been chasing things up with the internal recruitment co-ordinator for West Yorkshire (Business Services), who said my name had not been passed on to her from Newcastle as my CRB was not back  Luckily, I had the compliment slip with me which was attached to my CRB certificate last week, showing that the DWP had infact received it and forwarded it on to me.:mad:
Came home, constantly tried ringing Janice who is dealing with IRC60540 - managed to get though to her    Guess what she said....."we've not received your CRB..." I politely informed her that she HAD received my CRB and she had sent it to me with a compliment slip with HER name on. She was very apologetic and marked my checks as clear and said an updated merit was going to be sent to 'The Business' today.
Just received a call back from a woman called Samantha (the call back that Louise said i'd receive) who basically said all my checks including my CRB were clear....errrr, yeah, they are now! she told me I am at position 33 on the merit list and there are still lots of people who haven't been posted for this IRC yet (phew!)
So yep, after all this i'm still waiting, at least I know I haven't slipped thorough the net (although if I hadn't chased this up, they would still be waiting on my CRB which I received on 10th Sept!)
Oh, and I've to wait at least 2 weeks for 'the call' as its unlikely to happen sooner!0 -
Deejay - it's good to see the shambles continues. I hope to god they aren't this bad with actual employees. Otherwise, I doubt we'll ever get paid.0
