Any ideas I would be really grateful!

Very simple. Defrost (YOU DO HAVE TO DEFROST!!! YOU SHOULD NOT PUT FROZEN MEAT IN. I hope the people above are reading, or someone will get food poisoning sooner or later  )
Bung half leg of lamb in SC (will it fit? Have you got a nice big one?) With veggies. Include potatoes unless the devil makes you roast them for extra calories. For a leg of lamb I would leave AT LEAST 8 hours on low - 12 hours is more my style! I would put rosemary or mint in with lamb.
Lift lid and savour wonderful aroma.

Thanks so much for your help. The other leg of lamb I have is for the cookoff on Sunday!
I will wait for the 1st leg to be defrosted before cooking in the slow cooker.
As for having a big one... yes I only like big ones
I will give it a go tonight once the 1st leg I have is defrosted. Stay tuned!!

I don't mind what size they are, so long as they give a satisfactory result. For safety/to avoid spills you have to make sure the 'lid' fits, though! :rotfl:Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

Hi
I've just purchased a slow cooker and am useless in the kitchen, hence I would like an EASY recipe for a lamb or beef stew (or both) please.
Nothing complicated please, just a basic tasty lamb or beef stew and also a spaghetti bolognaise one please.
Can anyone help? It would be appreciated.
Oh BTW it's only for one person, but I'd like to make a little bit more so I can freeze the stuff and use it at a later date.
Thank you again.0 -
Well I don't know about a recipe per say
I take whatever I want and throw it in (say some stewing steak or flank steak) with some chopped onion, whatever root veg I have like carrots, spuds and anything else that needs using up. You can chuck a handful of mushrooms in if you like. For liquid I use stock and a tin of chopped tomato's.
Seriously you can pretty much throw in what you have hanging around and just leave it to simmer throughout the day
If you want to thicken it then you could add gravy granules or you can liquidise some of the spuds when it's all cooked and then stir them back in
I use fresh herbs when I have them and a dash of worcester sauceDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Hi glicky,
I'd agree with tine, throw in what you have and thicken the sauce before you serve it.
If you look in the blue bar at the top of this board, you'll find our indexed collections. Look at the Complete Slow Cooker Collection and the Slow cooker recipe index for more ideas.

One of the nices gravy bases for slo-cooking beef dishes is Oxtail soup IMO.
I chuck the meat, a sliced onion, some sliced mushrooms, the soup, a tin of baked beans and a tin of chopped tomatoes into the slo-cooker and forget it. Half way through the day I may add some sliced courgettes or frozen peas to the mix and serve later with lots of mashed tatties and swede. HTHLife's a beach! Forgot to say earlier - you can cook dumplins in the slo-cooker to perfection. Make as usual and chuck in for the last 30-40 mins.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0
