Mumzy, before you go and buy a hamster could you please, please find out if there is a hamster rescue near you from where you could rehome one. They would also be able to advice you about the cage etc. The pets in the petshop can sometimes come from breeding farms and by buying them we engourage this kind of "animal manufacturing". Thank you!

I have been going through my surveys and the end is not near. I think I need to give up now and go and cook some supper. (And close back door and window as getting really really cooooold!!!)

MrDT - that is an excellent breakdown of your spending and I guess we can all forgive you the very slight overspend seeing as you have your holiday paid up front and have still managed to get a few frugal nights out! Well done! I'd also like to say that you haven't failed, you still have 6 months to catch up and then it all starts over again for 2009. :)

Jumble-Bee, I had to laugh at your post! Mainly because it's probably true! He probably could afford to keep a jumble-bee if he gave up holidays and socialising, so you'd need to make his life one long holiday and [STRIKE]entertain[/STRIKE] chat socially to him whilst he refines his homebrewing skills ;)

Mumzy - £30 on a hamster? Buying cigs? I am in despair. :rotfl: But I saw an advert in a shop window today for baby Continental Giant rabbits and I've been wanting one of them for years! Aaaaaaaarg... I had to walk away and ban my memory from storing the number, but it's 0167.... 4 :rotfl:

I have just finished making 100 marshmallow top hats (minus the Smartie on top until I can get to a different shop tomorrow!) I carefully counted out all the mallows into a bowl, laid out 100 mini cake cases, melted 2 blocks of chocolate and ate the spare 5 marshmallows that came out the 4 bags - weird number , so 2 for HS and 3 for me. :rotfl: After carefully melting the chocolate and having help at hand plonking the mallows into the chocolate we got to number 99 and the mallows ran out!! :o Yep! I'd miss-counted and eaten one too many! OOPS! DS now has a chocolate top hat rim to look forward to!:rotfl: As for 'cost per unit', these will cost about 6p each by the time I buy the Smarties! How extravagant is that?!

MORE CONFESSIONS! I couldn't wait any longer to root around in the potato tub. I was sure there would be no potatoes because the bin was absolutely saturated after the heavy showers we've had recently, not enough drainage in the bottom I guess, but....
    drrrrrrrrrrrum rrrrrrrrrrroll..........

    Potatoes250608b.jpg

Guess what we're having for dinner tomorrow night?
This is how you feed a family of 3 from a single potato! :D

Yes you would but then in the shop there would be another one and another one and...

    Here are some websites:

    http://www.hamsterrescue.org.uk/
    http://www.cavyrescue.co.uk/hamster_guide.shtml
    http://www.animalrescuers.co.uk/html/rabferr.html

Sorry don't have time to look for more as I still haven't eaten.

    Marru

PS Also good to ask from a local petshop that don't sell live animals, they might have info of local rescue centres. Even some Cat's and Dog's homes have a small animal section.

Janey, take the receipt back to Co-op and point out the mistake to the person who served you when you bought it. They'll ask you to sign a slip of paper but they should refund you the difference no problem. Also, £1.99? Our Co-op is now charging £2.09 - ANOTHER price hike!

Mr DT don't get too carried away, I didn't say TOO sensible for your years :rotfl: I mean, who sets about turning a bunch of frugalers into homebrewing winos AFTER admitting to plastering his kitchen with partially fermented scum? :rotfl:

Edited in: I finished weeding the veggie patch, planted more salad leaves in my window box, watered the garden & have counted 14 out of my 18 standard tomato plants have flowers open. I ate the first strawberry, picked more salad leaves and then got a bit bored, so baked a tray of sponge cakes & have just finished icing them. DS is demolishing them already! I'm doing a few click throughs just now but popped on to eBay and treated myself to a 3 pack of muslin straining bags for the wine. Total impulse buy, I'm blaming Davie Tesco but I guess £1.75 inc P&P is a small price to pay if I'll get even more of the wine out of the fruit and into the containers rather than on the floor. Now going to edit an earlier post, assuming nobody quoted me, of course! :rotfl:
