Here's a recipe for easy easy Yummy Home-made chocolate fudge;
300g of good Dark Chocolate with a high coco percentage (70% or 80% coco content)
The fudge will not work with other chocolate.
400g tin of Condensed milk.
Method...
Break up the chocolate into a microwavable dish.
Microwave the Chocolate for 1 minute and stir, repeat again.
If the chocolate has still not melted microwave for an extra 20 seconds and stir.
Repeat the 20 seconds until the chocolate has melted being careful not to overcook the chocolate.
Then add the tin of condensed milk to the chocolate, stir in well.
You will feel the mixture thicken.
Pour into a foil lined tin, spread evenly and smooth the top.
Allow to cool for a couple of hours.
Take the fudge out of the tin and peel off the tin foil.

ooooh & almost forgot;
Yummy Home-made peppermint creams
12 tablespoons of icing sugar,
1 egg white,
green food colouring (optional),
peppermint flavouring and cooking chocolate.
Add to a bowl the icing sugar, egg white, 4 drops of peppermint flavouring and 12 drops of green food colouring. Mix well and kneed the mixture to form a smooth ball. If the mixture is a little too wet add more icing sugar.
Roll the ball into a large sausage and slice into individual sweets. Use your hands to shape the sweets and leave them on a chopping board to dry.
Melt the chocolate in a dish in the microwave, it will only need a minute or two. Don't over do it, it just needs enough time to melt. If you do not have a microwave, you may need an adult to help. Stand a mixing bowl inside a pan of boiling water on the hob, keep the water simmering. Don't let any water bubble over the side and into the chocolate because this spoils the chocolate. Be careful not to let the pan boil dry.
Dip each sweet into the chocolate half way, and leave it on some tinfoil until the chocolate sets.
pop them into your jars .......or
sometimes I put the sweets in greaseproof paper & paper napkins tied up with ribbon or tinselThe object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane — Marcus Aurelius0 -
glad i could help out. i'm planning on doing a basket of 40 home made muffins for my mum's 40th next year (yes, i'm planning early...like always haha), and put a jar of facts in the middle. DH is going to find out an interesting fact for every year of her life (like inventions, politics, number 1 in the charts, grand national winner etc.) so I'm all excited about starting it already0

Go for it! I would never have thought of doing something like that if it hadn't been for this jar thread. Now I might just have to persuade DH to take me to ikea for some nice jars... I've only been once and we must have been there about 6 hours, haha :rotfl:0 -

I'd leave your OH in the cafe with a nice large coffee and go back and get him when you need to pay and help carrying everything you've picked up!:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
My nan turns 80 this year and although I have already got her present and its all wrapped and at my mums house ready to go (did it before we moved!!) I may have to do a jar of facts for each year. Although it will be going all the way back to 1928!! May have to start some research me thinks!!:beer: Saving hard for a brighter future!:beer:0

Great idea siren. I've made my nan a journal in a jar for Xmas. Can't wait for her to start writing all her memories down.
