Same conditions apart from you can save double (£200 per month).
Just a reminder that this Savvy Saver should have matured but also that you're able to make £200 deposit (on top of the maximum £100) making a potential total £300 for the month of December into the SSFO.
Then back to a maximum of £200 per month going forwards.0 -
Following the receipt of my letter from LBS about the change to the Issue 3 regular saver to be in line with the Issue 4 regular saver, I sent them a couple of questions, and thought the answers might be useful to others.
I asked:
1) Beyond 1st Feb 2017, when the rate drops to 2.3%, is there a bonus involved to get that rate, and what are the terms? What part of the 2.3% is made up from the bonus?
The lady on the phone said that it will be the same as the Issue 4 - 0.5% base rate and 1.8% bonus.
2) When the rate drops on 1st Feb 2017, will there be an interest payment? Or will the interest only be paid on Oct 31st and will be combined for the period at 3.05% and the period at 2.3%?
They replied by email and said "I can confirm on the regular saver issue 3, the interest will be paid all together on 31st October 2017".
Hope this helps.0 -
Today I went along to my local Virgin Money 'Store' and opened a 'Store' RS1 to go alongside my existing online RS 1 & 2. The process was smooth: the lady certainly went out of her way to be friendly and, given all the chat, total elapsed time was a good 40 minutes.
FYI, one point to be aware of. There is no functionality whatsoever to view your 'Store' RS online, even if you also have online accounts with Virgin Money. If you want to see your balance or transactions, you must present your passbook and have it updated. So oddly (unlike, say, Leeds BS or Yorkshire BS), this account is totally '20th century' for the customer. Frankly, for that reason, I wouldn't have bothered to open it if didn't live near a 'Store'. Just a guess on my part, but I'm wondering if their 'Store' passbooks use old technology that they might have inherited from Northern Rock (remember them?) and maybe don't talk to their newer online customer-facing systems??0 -

That gives you everything Virgin - in lounges, airport lounges, etc - worldwide. You become a member of the 'family' - and you are looked after.0

The card is only for use in Virgin Money lounges in the UK. It cannot be used at their airport lounges. To access those, you need to be flying in the appropriate class or hold significant frequent flyer status with the airline. Even my flying of 46,000 miles in the last year with Virgin Atlantic gives me absolutely no status and therefore no lounge access.
TY. I've amended my post.0 -
I notice the Saffron BS Issue 3 has changed the wording regarding opening by post (https://www.saffronbs.co.uk/savings/display.product/?category=general&productID=g2).You must be a UK citizen. There are no age limits on this account. However for children under seven years old, a parent or guardian must act as a signatory on the account. You can open this account at any of our branches. If you're an existing Saffron Building Society customer you can also open this account by postal application.0

Am I right in thinking this one is a waste of time now at 2%?0
