And you did absolutely nothing but continue straight towards him as if he wasn't there, for over two whole seconds after he clearly passed the lights. Then you stopped, seemingly surprised. Hell, he reacted more quickly and positively than you appeared to.

Yes, I moved towards him doing about 5 mph and when I saw that he wasn't going to stop, I gave him a toot of my horn at which point he noticed me and did stop.
As to me stopping and seeming surprised, I suggest that you look at the video again and you will notice that I didn't stop as there was no need due to the Mercedes pulling up after I used my horn just before he entered the lane I was in after which I went slightly to the right just in case he decided to pull away.

Are you implying that he was hoping for something else to happen ?

    Exactly.
If I really wanted an accident, all I would have needed to do was to suddenly stop and the chances are that the car behind me would have gone straight up my ar5e.
I would have had a perfectly legitimate reason for doing an emergency stop and would have had video evidence of this but I felt it was far safer to simply continue forwards and around the Mercedes.
  • Whilst they will make great Youtube videos and will assist insurance claims , prosecutions won't increase unless used in cases of serious dangerous driving or an accident.
Police forces are already swamped with allegations of careless driving and people sending in pictures of drivers on their phones etc.
It won't be long before insurance companies will insist on so many weeks of driver footage before deciding on ones insurance premium , like the apps/boxes they fit now, requiring cameras to be linked to the speedo.

    No, I'm not.
  • Had mine for a couple of months now - only an Ebay cheapy

Did record a accident on it - saved the footage in case the insurance company need it

    Wouldn't be without it

I have one of those Nextbase ones mentioned in post #6.

There is a massive gulf between my idea of "high quality video" and Nextbases.

Considering it records video @ 16Mb/s 1920x1080 it is utter rubbish! You really do need to ram the car in front to be able to read the numberplate.

However, it ought to be good enough to confirm that the blue car did in fact materialise out of thin air directly in front of me, rather than was actually there for a good 5 minutes.

As long as this doesn't happen at night..........
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

The resolution of the video is one thing, but the quality of the optics is at least as important. Fixed focus probably isn't the end of the world, since most things you're really interested in are going to be at least 5-10ft away, but a cheap and nasty plastic lens is not going to help anybody with anything - especially if it gets a bit dusty, which a permanently mounted one is quite likely to.

However you did seem to jump the lights a bit.

I just don't fancy having a cable running down my windscreen also having to set up and remove each day in case gets nicked.

If I had the money would have one permanently installed as have had a couple of abusive road rage incidents which I would have loved to have captured.

    Same here.

However, give it 5 years and they'll be standard on all new cars I bet.
