What a windy day it is! Have put some washing on the line and think it must be dry by now. Will go and check once I've typed up my plan for today. Have changed planned lunch as was going to have a salad again but DH says it's too cold so wants something hot!

B - scrambled eggs on toast
L - jacket potato, baked beans, salad for me
D - HM sweet & sour pork; fruit & quark

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
    Syns - weekend wine

I don't know much about jury duty MrsP but from what you say it sounds like you do not need to attend on Monday.

I agree. I did jury service back in the day when everyone needed to turn up and hang around. It was not only very boring but you could end up missing work unnecessarily. Sounds like this code system has been introduced to make it easier for people. Seems like a good idea to me.

:T to abbafan on getting Woman of the Year award. Hope it went well. And belated congratulations to beanie on your Club 10.:T

I had more syns than expected last night as I copied DH and had fish and chips instead of the planned steak and salad. I didn't copy him having syrup sponge pudding and custard though so it could have been worse.

I did a very cheap shop in Aldi yesterday as I have plenty of meat in the freezer. BUT, Sainsbury's have wine syns on 25% off so shopping there was far more expensive (very mse though;)). Tonight we're having the last Lidl BBQ beef from the freezer. I wont buy it again unless it's on offer as it's such a mean amount of beef for the full price. I need to try out a low syn Pulled Pork recipe. I remember shala saying she didn't like cooking it in the sauce but poured it on afterwards. Any advice or should I just try the recipe on the SW website?

Needless to say my team lost last night:(. It was if we were just extras in the MUFC TV show but I did note some improvement in our play since last week so not completely depressed. Far too many wine syns were consumed so today I'm drinking lots of water to counteract the effects. I've already had 1.5 litres and just refilled my bottle.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, 2 boiled eggs, HEB toast, HEA milk for teas
L: JP with veggie chilli and cottage cheese
D: Lidl Pulled Beef, patatas bravas, mushrooms, green stuff (asparagus, mange tout and peas)
    Syns: weekend wine:)

High winds here too denise, trees are waving about ominously, but at least the torrential rain has stopped as the clouds are blown away.:)

    Hey all..

I seem to be struggling with finding time to post these days.. I get a quick half hour lunch at work and work through most of it so by the time I've caught up and logged in my lunch time is over :( I am reading every day though so i'm here in spirit..:D

Hope all the poorlies are feeling better, mentally and physically xx

I lost 1lb this week so happy with that as we had one day off plan at the wedding. Treated myself to some coconut hifi bars, oh my life they're gorgeous.. just trying not to eat the whole box! Our consultant said she's sold over 60 boxes in one day so they seem popular :j

Well done to all the losers and if your result wasn't what you wanted then keep plodding, you'll get there eventually :T:T

Congratulations Beanie on your club 10! :T:T

Denise, could you post your falafel recipe please? I love them but find they're always dry and crumbly when I try and make them from scratch. Also if you don't mind sharing you wheat bran cake Lush, always looking for decent breakfast ideas..

Congratulations on your 5 year anniversary maman, its great to see that it can be kept off. You hear so many stories of people going back to their old weight, so you, TIE and all the other target members are truly an inspiration!:T

Well done on your coke restriction MrsP, i'm a pepsi max addict but trying to cut down slowly.. good luck for your weigh in, lets hope your shake up helps. Re Jury Duty, we also had to phone up each day but everyone got called for the first day as they had a massive case starting, I did listen to the message about 5 times so I understand your worrying (and the disappointment of not getting out of work!) Sorry that doesn't help much does it.. go with the phone message - it may be that all the cases are running over from last week so they don't need the new intake yet.

I only don't cook the meat in the sauce maman as I don't like to use the sauce after - its all greasy and has manky bits in it :D The recipe I use is on the front page, you don't have to do the rub first if you don't want to, it tastes just as nice if you just cook the meat plain and then let it sit in the BBQ sauce for a while.

Meal plan for today - didn't have any speed yesterday so need to make sure I get it today! :naughty:
    B - didn't get up in time
L - ciabatta (heb) ham, salad, pickles, chilli sauce (1) pom bears (4)
    T - chicken, jacket, cheese(hea), salad
    S - milk (2) hifi (3)

    xx

Every ounce is a prisoner, june – be very happy.

I’ve also been called for jury service but wasn’t picked either! It was a VERY long time ago (hink late 70s/early 80s), so I don’t think I’d be much use, ha ha. DH has been called twice in the last few years but got out of it because he needed “frequent toilet breaks”.

Well done, Abbafan. I’m sure your talk will be enlightening.

Windy? Washing out? No rain? That’s not fair, Denise! It’s wet here again.

I have to say, maman, I didn’t like your team’s strip last night. A bit dull – reflected in their play :o
 Not going to our game today. It’s in Dumfries and we don’t want to leave the new old moggie alone for too long just yet. They’ll probably lose again too. :(

    Saturday’s Situation

Breakfast: scrambled eggs, caramel snackajack (2 ½ ) with mashed banana
Lunch: hm tomato & basil soup (1 ½ ), Hexb ham & piccalilli sandwich, WW pink grapefruit yogurt
Dinner: peri peri chicken (2), rice & whatever veg I can find
Snacks: hexa cheese & grapes, shortbread finger (5)

  • Can I join please?

I've been thinking about joining SW for a while but took the plunge today....perhaps not the best week to do it as I go to Washington next weekend but if I didn't do it then there would always be an excuse for it to be next week.

I'm hoping to do this on my own as I can't really afford the £5 week fee.

    Wish me luck!

That's what I'm thinking because everyone that was called in was a Z and I'm an A and there was over 40 of them so I think they might have some run overs. I will stick with the message. I think I just got worried yesterday. I've adjusted now though.
Yes, I'm struggling a tad today with the diet coke - I'm audio transcribing so I would usually have some whilst typing along but I've had my one for today. I really think the shakeup this week is working so I really want to just stick at it for 2 more days. I might add a bit more juice to my squash to make it sweeter. I'm not a fan of water/weak squash.

mrsp - as long as you're using sugar free squash it doesn't matter how much of it you use.

greentiger - not only was it windy and I got my washing dry but the only rain we got was a couple of 5-10 minutes of spitting! Still need to water the pots again.

Shala - the falafel recipe I use is the one on the website (I actually measured the spice this time which I don't usually and most people thought they were too spicy as they were definitely spicier than usual).

1 onion, peeled and finely chopped
1 carrot, peeled and coarsely grated
2x 400g cans chickpeas, drained and rinsed
2 garlic cloves, peeled and finely chopped
2cm piece root ginger, peeled and finely grated
    2 tsp ground cumin
    1 tsp chilli powder
    1 tsp ground coriander
3 tbsp very finely chopped fresh coriander
    1 small egg
    Salt
    Low calorie cooking spray
Paprika and fat-free natural yogurt, to serve (optional)

Place the onion, carrot, chickpeas, garlic, ginger, cumin, chilli powder and the ground and fresh coriander in a food processor. Pulse and process for 1-2 minutes until blended but still fairly chunky in texture.

Transfer the mixture into a mixing bowl. Lightly beat the egg and add to the mixture. Season with salt and, using your fingers, mix thoroughly to combine. Cover and chill in the fridge for 6-8 hours to firm up and allow the flavours to develop.

Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C Fan/Gas 6. Line a large baking sheet with baking parchment and spray lightly with low calorie cooking spray.

Shape the chickpea mixture into 24 bite-sized balls and place on the prepared baking sheet. Spray lightly with low calorie cooking spray and cook in the oven for 15-20 minutes until lightly golden and firm.

Serve warm, sprinkled with paprika and the yogurt alongside to dip into.

I didn't bother with the yoghurt to dip into as they are nice without and was having them cold not warm.

I only used half a beaten egg and it was still quite wet after chilling for 6 hours so needed to be cooked slightly longer to firm them up.

  • I've come to the conclusion I have a major issue with portion control.

B - 2 weetabix with canderel. Apple afterwards.
D - jacket potatoes, tuna, light mayo (3syns), sweet corn. And lots of salad.

No lunch as breakfast was stupidly late.

Other syns - wotsits 4 and a half. So 7 and a half altogether.
