Welcome theblackrose! I put on weight after my dad passed as well, which prompted my joining. So hugs to you!
Thank youit's been 3 months but I know its a very slippery slope.
Welcome theblackrose. It's worth going along to Group just for the 1st meeting to get the books and the new members talk. No need to go back if you can't afford it. It's probably just as expensive to buy them on e-bay and they may not necessarily be the current books.Welcome theblackrose  think the packs are about £20 on ebay so cheaper to go to class if you can get to just one. Alternatively have a good read of the first few posts and ask as many questions on here as you want. It won't be as comprehensive as the packs but it'll give you a good starting point. If you post your menu's up each day then we can check that you're on the right track
Thank you all for the welcome & info. I think my only option is getting tips here/getting books off ebay as our nearest group only meet at night and we have no buses in the evening where I live. It's a small villageGrocery Challenge: January: /£2140 -
:T to musogirl and june. Great losses!
I went to WI this morning and gained 2 pounds. Not too upset about it as it was a spur of the moment thing after I 'd had a big breakfast and after a night full of syns. Generally I go midweek after my smallest breakfast and following a low syn day. I'm dead on target now and I don't feel fat (probably will later;)) so I'm happy.
Ouch!! to the sore thumb and the parking ticket tie good news for your boy:T.DH was fine with the 1% until made a cup of tea himself and saw it wasn't our normal SS, LOL! But I'm sticking with it - that extra 50ml makes a lot of difference.
DH had to open a new carton today and I noticed he chose the green top (I bought one of each) over the orange. We'll see if any comments midweek when we open the other.miss_independent wrote: »I also had a SW ready meal for the first time yesterday - the Sweet Potato Curry. It was much nicer than WW meals and a HUGE portion. I couldn't finish it. Brilliant that it is Syn free and whilst I don't like eating ready meals, it's good to know they are there for those days when you aren't able to cook. At £3, they are expensive and I wouldn't be having them often.
Glad you enjoyed meeting Pudsey:). Most people say that the ready meals are enough for two people if you add Speed to them. And you do need to add Speed because most of them are just free food.
I'll do another post with patatas bravas recipe.Welcome theblackrose. It's worth going along to
Yes, welcome.:) Another way to get started is to google the 7 day sample menu on the SW site and use that as a basis for getting started. You may find to begin with that you need to use up stuff from the freezer/cupboards that isn't particularly SW friendly (unless you have a family to feed it to;)) but then I'd suggest you do a weekly (or longer if it suits you) meal plan and shopping list so you're organised. Do post your menus and we'll comment if they need tweaking and just shout if you need any syn values or anything.
ETA: we're allowed 15 syns a day but many of us work on a bank of 105 per week instead of having them all daily. So I have loads of syns at weekends and very few during the week.
My EE plan:
B: NAS Grapefruit, 2 fried eggs, HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks
L: ham, fried potatoes, beetroot and various veg (sugar snaps, mushrooms, peppers, spring onion).chicken curry with SW chips (synful ready meal)
Syns: lots:o.0 -
miss_independent wrote: »Maman I love Patatas Bravas when I'm having tapas - please could I ask how you make them?
They're really simple. The ones I had last night were using up some sauce I had in the freezer. It freezes beautifully and I'm sure it would work with pasta too.
Patatas Bravas
Peel and cut the potatoes in 2cm cubes. I parboil for a few minutes, drain, spray with frylight then cook on a baking tray in the oven for about 30 minutes. So that's just as you'd do for SW chips or roast potatoes.- fry a chopped onion until soft (I start mine off in microwave) add crushed clove of garlic (or lge tsp of lazy garlic), 0.5 tsp crushed chillies and 1 tsp of smoked paprika. Cook, stirring for a minute.
- add can of chopped tomatoes and half tsp of sweetener. Simmer for about 20 minutes then stir in tbsp. of balsamic vinegar and cook for another minute.
- Put sauce in a bowl and add cooked potatoes. Scatter with parsley to make it look pretty.
