:rotfl:
Yes charging/range issues are a concern on the Leaf. But it'll wor for us because I cannot see the Leaf ever leave the City.
The paperwork came through via email with lunch time, delivery of the car to the dealer is next week. In my excitement to get the thing I nearly replied and said I'll pick up ASAP.....Than realised I haven't had any contact from the home charger installers yet (Free as well!!)....It wouldn't have been an interesting start to EV ownership if I had picked up the car without a home charger0 -
If you live, and only ever travel, within a city, would public transport not be a viable option?
I would love to get from A to B via public transport, but my nearest bus stop is 15 min walk away, and currently there are 3 different bus companies in the City. I actually cycle a lot, hence the current car gets limited use. But on the test drive I found the Leaf perfect for City driving, so much so I ended up doing 55 miles in it in one day!!...Oh and a monthly bus pass for just ONE bus company is £50/month...Thats already nearly 1/4 the total cost of Leaf I'm getting
Oh I think I can now post images
Quick snap of the one I test drove, my current BMW is in the background.
The energy usage display, a very cool way of keeping an eye on predicted range...I think it's a common feature on most milk floats
Over all it's a lot of brand new car for very little cash, especially considering the technology.
Anyways I post again when I pick the thing up, but this time I'll be ready to expect 'helpful' comments from certain individuals0 -

I really envy you, gzoom. I would love an electric car, especially a Leaf. Although almost all my driving is short distances, I do need to do trips of 150 miles+ a few times a year, so until someone produces an affordable EV that guarantees 200 miles (with heating/air conditioning), I'll just have to wait. I'm retired, so can't justify a second car.
Any chance of you keepting us posted about you experiences with your Leaf? - especially real life range.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -

I think Nissan uk do offer free loan cars if you need a normal car for long trips every so often0 -

Will do, getting a home fast charger installed hopefully in the next 7 days, in the mean time need to sell my current car, and than finally i can go and pick up the Leaf
Oh yes, Nissan will loan you a normal car for a total of 14 days in every calendar year for free. Whilst I was at a dealership doing the paper work a current Leaf owner phoned up waiting to book a normal car for their Easter holiday break.
We're quite lucky been able to 'try' out the Leaf with no real financial penalty. It really will be interesting to see how my driving is effected by the range, and how I get on with the car overall....If I was paying full list price for one (nearly £30K) I suspect my attitude might be different.0 -
So I thought I give people a quick update...
I took delivery of my Leaf 31st of March, and been driving it nearly daily. The car has been fab, longest trip so far has been a 200 mile round trip from Leicester to London. Our other family car (Lexus hybrid) has hardly been used since the arrival of the Leaf!!
In the first month, I covered some 800 miles, so way OVER my PCP agreement, so trying to keep the miles down this month
Projected total cost of electricity for April was £21, but actually I've only charged up from home a few times (33kWh used in total), ACTUAL fuel costs have been 0.5p/mile  Most of the charging has been done at local Sainsbury, shopping centre, and Rapid charges (20min) at Local Nissan dealer (All free).
As side from the running costs, the Leaf is just a 'fun' car to drive, its not fast, but the driving experience is so refined, and it's practical too...My pedal bike actually fits in it without having to take any wheels off!!
Overall I'm VERY happy with the Leaf, it wouldn't work for everyone, and I have access to another car if really long distances/emergency is needed, BUT I know personally, I wouldn't be buying another petrol/diesel car ever again...EV are the future of motoring, it's just a case of waiting for battery costs to lower and range to go up.
Once the PCP deal runs out on the Leaf, I'll be ordering one of these0 -
Oh almost forgot, here are some snaps....Not a looker, but as they say, beauty isn't skin deep0
