We connected at DFW from LAS onto the BA flight a couple of weeks ago. From getting off the plane to hitting the line for BA 10-15 minutes tops. Your bags will be tagged straight through.
You get off of the plane at A gates. you go up escalator to the monorail, you stay on that to the D gates. There is no immigration as such. when you get to the BA gate (usually 14) you will be directed to go to the podium where someone will do your passport check. Make sure you have your luggage receipts with you, they will ask to see them.
Edit: Sorry just re read your post and it seams like you are flying with AA. DFW is really weird, there are no immigration desks, it all gets done at the gatesThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
So still recovering from our trip, despite being home for over a week! Blasted flu got us both and it does not seem to go away too easily.
Thankfully we had not booked up a lot this time around, and I think it made for a very different trip and the best to date. I think finally admitting we will keep returning means we no longer feel we have to try to do it all!
As with previous trips, we had a few different hotels (5 in total, including 2 in London). First 4 nights in the Mirage, 4 nights in the Aria and a final night in MB. Mirage was ok, long walk to our room and a big fat fail for our check in experience. Being platinum Mlife members and my hubby's birthday, I suppose naively we expected a little bit of a recognition, but nothing of the sorts. It was rushed and border line rude, add in a bit jet lag we didn't have a great start. Long story in short, hubby posted a tripadvisor review and Mirage contacted us to apolgise, so may give them another shot next time.
Aria was less impressive this time, most likely due to NYE's celebration and the corridors seriously needed a good clean. We saw rubbish left for at least a couple of days (we we're at the end of the corridor). Issues with the internet dropping, although their tech support is awesome, so that was solved quickly and also lack of water pressure. However it is still my go to place as their bed remains the best, and the service still fab. And I need my daily Jean Philippe fix
Lastly, MB surprised us both immensely, although much further out than we would normally consider, we just loved it. Yes, the rooms are a bit dated, nor are the bed as comfy as the Aria, but for some reason we really liked it there. And as this was a MyVegas reward, it was all the sweeterAnd finally we managed to make our way to LV sign too, so extra bonus
NYE was amazing! We began the evening with a trip to Peppermill and had a drink by the Firepit before having our dinner in the dining area. Massive portions and delicious, so well recommended (their Strawberry Daquiri's are lush too). We had prebooked tickets to be up in the Eiffel tower for the fireworks. Apparently only 60 people can be up there, however I don't think we were more than 40. Although pricey, it helped having open champagne bar for an hour. 4 small bottles of Moet each meant I was pretty tipsy at the end
And for the fireworks... WOW! You have the perfect view either end of the strip, and for anyone thinking of going, the display is the same from every hotel more or less, thus where you are doesn't make a huge difference I suppose.
We also saw Britney Spears, all I can say is, don't bother! She doesn't sing and she cannot dance....Justin Timberlake was our other show, and as last time, the man can entertain!
For shopping, we visited both outlets, although this time we left with less than usual and found Fashion Show Mall a much better option with far better deals. Hubby bought two coats (including a Michael Kors) for just over $220 in total saving over $1000 of the original price, whereas the outlets did have sales, the real deals seemed to be lacking.
Now off to decide on our hotels for our next trip, dates more or less decided if all goes to plan0 -
Have stumbled upon a Vegas flight using points in May
Might book it. This would likely mean 2 trips to Vegas this year. I suppose I do have MyVegas rewards to use and also some Social Rewards points

woooohoooooooooooooo !
Think I have beaten my budget which I set out with!!
I said £700 each to do 11 nights in Vegas in June...
Well, using a combination of myVegas room rewards and offers with Mlife, if all goes to plan, our holiday cost is.....................
£539 each !!!!!!!!!
With cashback, direct flight was £488 (LHR - LAX)
5 nights in the Mirage using myVegas rewards.
Will spend on both mlife cards for gambling/drinks/food, etc etc, so at checkout, if they want to try and charge the resort fee, we should be able to get the charges removed!
Then we got 6 nights in Tower room in Luxor (although I will try and blag a suite when we check-in).
Friday & Sat night is comp'd through my mlife, Sun is comp'd with wifes mlife, and Monday costs $45....
Tues & Weds via Lowcostusa.co.uk for £72
All noted to be back to back, and again, spending in the casino will get the resort fee removed
woohoooooo, happy days!!!!!0 -

Hi Stuie.
Out of interest, how many points did you have to accrue on MyVegas Rewards to get 5 nights at the Mirage?0 -
it cost 52500 per night for the Mirage on myVegas..
Your allowed only 3 nights.
Were both still on the 4 rewards each thing, so 3 from my account, and 2 from hers...0 -
I have never used any of Myvegas rewards for hotels rooms before.
Surely you can only redeem the reward inside of 90 days from your trip.
I fancy trying to redeem 4 nights at Mirage, had 4nights there in November, only paid £189 total, including resort fee, booking through Lowcost usa.we are booked again for start of October, looked at Lowcost usa but prices then are a fair bit more than we paid last time.So fancy redeeming rewards for the room.
How excactaly does room redemption work,do you have to do it one night at a time, then ring and ask to string them together....obviously rewards wil be 2x mine, and 2x the wife's.
Octobers dates aren't available yet on rewards, but surely I will have to wait until some time in July until I can redeem them.
Done loads of free buffets last time, and got sick of them.:(0 -
The 90 day relates to using the rewards when u picked it..
So in room booking case, your using it by making the booking....
Most book rooms for later dates early, as room allocation will change..
Currently, from 31st May to June 4th, you can use the Bonus Night reward for the Mirage...
But check back in 2 months, and I bet those dates have changed or disappeared....
When I rang myvegas to do my 3 nights with Mirage, same process as it was last year when we did Aria for 3 nights..
They make 3 separate bookings, and u get 3 ref's..
They make a note on the system to make it "Back to Back" booking without room change..
When you check-in, the front desk see it anyway, so all sorted there....
The Luxor booking through Mlife, was the same.. I rang VIP services, did booking in my name, then did the next 2 in wifes name, and the lady on the phone gives 2 ref's, and makes a note to combine the booking so u don't have to check-out of the room.....
Easy peasy!!
Plus, a quick email to the hotel just before u arrive gives them a heads up to get things in order should they not be
Out of the buffets we went to last year and year before, my fave was Spice Market in Planet Hollywood (the only buffet we paid for!)....
Food was great, loved the YUKON GOLD mash, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !!!!! oh, and the waitress giving me 7 Bud Lights as a take-away !! hehe !0 -
Well, we booked for May!! We fly out to San Diego using points. It's a 10 night trip, going on a Saturday so we will spend a couple of nights (or 3 maybe - advice?) in San Diego before driving over to Vegas on the Monday or Tuesday. We get in early evening. Not sure where we'll stay in San Diego. If we pick up a car at the airport we could just stay near an interstate. I did previously look up the Gaslamp Quarter, but I don't know if we'll feel the need to stay so central with a car. We arrive about 830 in the evening, so if we only do 2 nights it would really be 1 full day, so we might consider 3 nights. It's an 'extra' trip, so we'll hopefully be doing Vegas again later in the year as usual.
Not sure where to stay in Vegas but might just stay at Platinum. It has everything we like, but I'm also tempted to try Sunset Station at some point too. Or Red Rock. And I might need to consider a couple of nights at an MGM property - using MyVegas so that we can use our points and also for the minimum stay requirements for buffets. Got about 120000 points just now (hubby has over 100000), but we will rack up some more before we go. Also have about $100 in Social Rewards each so far, again hoping to gain some more. Love these freebies!
So we'll be on the countdown. I'm doing the whole jetlag thing just now waking up at 4am in Bangkok, just waiting for the clock to strike 6 so I can go for a shot on the treadmill. Will only be just over 3 months to go by the time we get home! :j Also have never done 2 Vegas trips in a year, I know it has killed Vegas for some folks here, but hopefully won't do any damage for us.0 -
Twice a year to vegas certainly hasn't killed it for us.
We have done two trips a year for the last 2 maybe 3 years,we also go to Florida,so forget where we've been, and when.
Anyway,at the start of this year I suggested two visits again to vegas to the wife, but she wanted a trip to Florida, and one to Vegas.
So it's orlando in March, and only one visit to Vegas in October this year.:(
If it was solely down to me,we would just go to Vegas twice. In fact,I know it sounds greedy, but I don't feel one trip in the year is enough.
It will have been 11 months since our last visit when we go,and that just seems an awfully long time between trips.0
