The deal here would have been to push the 10 months out to 12 months, then lock it in.0

I should have added this to my post - I did push for the deal over 12 months but she said she could not do this. At this point the account credit was offered.
£26/month for Sky Family Pack with Sports & Movies with HD pack for 10 months.
I don't think there's much to complain about there.0 -
when i asked for a rolling contract (on what was a very small discount anyway!) i was told 'all offers' are subject to a 12 month contract!0

So I'm now 2 weeks into cancellation and still haven't heard a thing from Sky other than an email survey asking why I'm leaving. I've cancelled my TV, phone and broadband...what I'm now worried about is how easy will it be to get my phone and broadband reconnected? I know TV can be switched back on in an instant.0

don't wish to alarm you but i'd check back with sky asap on phone/bb as i was told that after 14 days, the termination goes to openreach & you can't stop it after that. you'll need to get a new supplier sorted asap (sky advised it's always best for a new supplier to take over a 'live' connection, so only to cancel with them when new start date confirmed). this is the main reason i only cancelled tv, i know it's less of a bargaining chip if not cancelling all, but we can't be without phone/bb as needed for our business.0 -

Thanks they did mention it would be easier with an active line but nothing about 14 days. Not really sure what to do now...0 -

I cancelled tv, then negotiated phone/bb two weeks later, without cancelling them. If negotiation had failed, it would have meant I'd have to pay a couple of weeks at full price; well worth the risk.0 -
best thing to do is phone sky and ask them. Say that you are still planning to leave but ask what happens if you change your mind at the last minute.
I did this with Virgin so realise its slightly different but was told that provided I phone before the cancellation date everything would just continue as normal.0 -
i've just been doing a comparison with the current tv packs available from Sky & think i've found a little bit of an issue which will mean i'm going to suffer if i let the cancellation go through!
we're currently on the variety pack, but as we were on the World pack (i think) previously, we get all the HD channels, 3D & full on demand access inc box sets (we do use use HD & on demand all the time & 3D occasionally).
presumably if i do go through with switch off, i'd then have to go for the full family pack to get the equivalent of what we have now (which will inc all kids channels that won't get watched at all), have i understood this correctly?
it's very early days as only cancelled on Friday, but i haven't had any contact from sky (email/marketing preferences are all correct) & nothing online showing on mysky...0 -
