  • Pleasantly surprised so far - it has all been straightforward in our household - applied online for an account each last Sunday evening and both sets of debit cards, activation codes and PIN numbers have arrived already this week.

Fingers crossed that opening a second account each is equally simple :)

Opened an account online Monday, no problems.

Received activation code today so logged in, activated and then tried to open another, by trying to apply whilst logged in. A message came up saying 'it is not possible for you to have a 2nd account or upgrade' Oh !!!!

Logged out, went to their homepage, opened a 2nd account successfully...go figure !!

It's previously been queried whether the purpose of account question could trigger a decline if "savings" was selected.

Well, in the info box for this question it says "To satisfy banking regulations, we need to understand what you’ll use this account for. The reason you select will not be used in our decision making process."

Got my online banking activation and can log in and view my accounts so now time to clear out my ISA :) not a smooth account opening process but I'm happy.

I already have 3 Enhance accounts, and there was no facility online to open 2 new accounts, so arranged an appointment in branch today. The woman muttered and moaned, and said these were new accounts to attract new business to the branch, and that they got no credit for opening these accounts for existing customers. They had discussed this with the branch manager, and they had made a decision that from next Monday, they would only set up an account if it included a direct debit. I suggested that this would contravene the terms and conditions of the account. Her response was the branch manager could decide whatever he wanted.

Tried to open a second account and again have been asked to go into branch to verify ID. Seems bizarre when I've just had an account accepted and fully opened. Obviously their application process is lacking in intelligence somewhere.

He might tell his staff that, but the reality is he can't stop anyone as it's not up to him.

I got my activation code in the post whilst at work. I entered it and tried to apply for a second current account. Immediately I got this notice:
Sorry, we can't offer you a secondary current account.

    What does that mean?

I received this message too. TSB customer service didn't know why it was happening. However, they advised me to log out and apply for my second account from their main page, and it worked.
Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and you’ll get rid of him every weekend.

I've always had that with Lloyds, Bank of Scotland and TSB. All you need to do in order to apply for a second account is use the application form on the website (as if you're a new customer), it'll then link to your current log in.

    At least it should do.
