    Should I resend my update?

I sent one but it had the wrong figures (cause I'm silly) so I posted a comment on this thread, but it might get lost in the activity, so should I send another form to be safe? Or is that too confusing to have two forms?

  • Chart 03. I promised this a while ago, and I've just had a fiddle with some formula to make the summary box easier to calculate.

    Here's the yet-to-be-updated Chart 03:

    Hi,

Just spend a while catching up on some of the back posts. Looks like the majority of queries have been answered – guess that’s what a self-help forum is about!

For my own update, I’m going to put yet another update in for my own saving balance of zero. We’ve got around £8,000 in savings just now and around £8,900 of credit card debt – both values fluctuating.

As the savings are allocated for the credit card debt, I’m not going to treat them as “real” savings until the credit cards are cleared. Clearing £4k (Nationwide) later in September and NatWest in November or early December.

Looking at upgrading my Flex account to get 5% interest on the balance and opening a Santander 123 current account for 3% interest.

Turning in shortly – shattered this evening. More tomorrow.

    FB.
PS - I've updated post #5 to link to the charts - these are the formatted outputs and not the raw data such as the link further up this page.

  • Hi FB, once Mr T is gainfully employed we will crack on with OPs - thankfully we have made a big reduction (circa £110k in 20 months) - without that we would be pretty stuck right mow

  • Just submitted my update for September 2013 - £68,000 :)

My spreadsheet reckons £68,044.79, tomorrow I'll call for an official balance, and make a mini overpayment to reduce the balance to a nice round 68k

FB: Just a quick reminder that I'm changing my target for this challenge from a very easy 60k, to a very challenging 40k (have submitted this update via the form too). Also... Welcome back!!

  • Hi,

I must be going mad, I thought that I had done my update but obviously not. Sorry it is late, I have done an update form but just incase it gets lost in the ether, i'm challenger 116 and at £138,000.

This will be the last big drop until this time next year, when we are out of the lock in. DH won't pay any fines and as we have done our 10%, it will just be the money overpaid via decreasing our term.

Thanks to FB for running this and I am sure you will be back on track soon!

    Hi,

I've just updated Chart 03 (and also put in Chart 02 - which is the same as Chart 03 !).

I restated my goal to be to increase my SIPP cash balance from £39,648.94 to £99,999. Current balance is £58,426.42 which means I have got £41572.58 to go. I am using tax rebates as part of the running total so that means a total of £29694.70 to put in. In the next 27 months that's £1099.80 per month. Eek ! I have just set up a direct debit of £500/month to the SIPP

I am so glad I am a member of this challenge because, without it, I would not have gone back to check my NS&I Direct ISA. I could have sworn blind that I had already topped up back at the beginning of the tax year (but no, still had £3260 to put in, which I have just done). But I then saw that the interest rates are dropping even lower on the 12th ! Naarrgh...So, on the positive side, at least I am using my allowance. But I am losing money with the sub-inflation interest rates :(

Anyway, to the end of this year, I need to save and set aside approx 3.5K for my season ticket (already have got that) and 500/month towards hubby's ISA allowance. I have the challenge of focussing on trying to get ahead of the game with my SIPP as well as accumulating for next year's cash ISA.

I wonder whether I have set myself too tough a goal...let's see. I need to focus on saving smaller amounts on a more regular basis (e.g. lunches, magazines, coffees). Right - time to focus :)

    FG
ps I just saw FB's post about his crazy work hours. I have had similar - has been average of 50 hours/week for 6 months (with special two week back to back with 80+ hours/week period). Funnily enough, I also needed to go and recharge my batteries and this is why you haven't had any posts from me in the past six months. And I don't get paid O/T !! Anyway, back to work on Monday and my focus is going to be getting through to the end of the year and seeing whether I can "overpay" on my SIPP.

pps FB - BTW, I always thought you were a girl :)
    MFiT-T4 Number 68
MFiT 4 Goal - Build up savings (SIPP, ISA etc.) to £250k . Current balance £174748 (1/8/16).
    Crazy goal - £500k by Jan 2026.
