I give up.......so many new comps posted without end dates today and established members jump in with the link but don't bother mentioning the date problem. You check the posters profile and they're viewing the thread. Advise how to change the header and it's never done and the thread is moved to Game Over because they don't do it.

Excusemylate night thinking - somewhat emotional day.

Putting an idea out there, as there is the current newbie minimum posts before links rule out there, might it be worth suggesting a 'sub-forum block' to those that have made less than the required number of posts so that they couldn't actually post threads in CompTime until they've passed the required amount? It would greatly thin out the post and go brigade as there would have to be some effort required in 'post-boosting' before being able to post the link.

Downsides to that though are the aforementioned postboosting, could see a lot of bumping - let's not wind of the organ on that topic again! Also, MSE prides itself on being a friendly open-to-all forum so I highly doubt the upper echelons would even consider the idea that part of the forum is closed off.

Another option is leaving it, watching it move to GO, someone posts the comp in the correct way, dupe is called, merge and edit is completed. If no-one does then obviously comp not worth too much effort to us.

Or if MSE seem loathe to stop without proof, then let them make the decision and just enter them anyway?

Sorry if it makes no sense, it's just some ideas, like I said been an emotional day, prolly best I went to bed...
