Was just thinking about the recipe link on page 1 and wondering if we ought to have a handy reference and mythbuster section

This makes interesting reading, I found it while looking for more info on muscles and cramping LOL

That would be good. If anyone wanted to start one (perhaps initially put the page and post no in sig?) I would be happy to contact sazbo and arrange a link on the first page. We need something to link to first though :rotfl:

I will not be compiling the page, just don't have the time. But will be a regular contributor, I'm sure :rotfl:

When the recipe list first started I added to over time and reposted all in order - that's the one you see :) Sazbo was kind enough to put it on an easy to find page, but for a good while we just book marked it.

Mercy - thanks for the info. Your link for low carb veg is coming up with a database error for me so could you try reposting it?

Thinkin again about the mooli - daikon - radish. Looks alarming but not quite as alarming as a cucumber I saw recently :) :rotfl:

Peel before everything. However, cut off as much as you want and peel that. Stash any remaining in a food-safe (as food safe as they can be :rotfl:) bag in fridge. Lasts well for 4 days in my experience, just cut off the cut end and proceed to peel :D

Delphinoise - cut much thinner for the same time or give longer as it doesn't squish like a spud. Best off thinner in my experience. ;)

    Cut into sticks for snackage

Juilienne for the very best Dinner Party or any time addition to salads. Even hot ones :rotfl:

    So good n tasty.

First I knew of a mooli was I saw one on (The Award Winning) Bolton Market and knew I needed to know how to use one of those :rotfl:

Can't fault it. Get one. ;)

Think it may be a server thing. Will post another if this doesn't come back :)

    Was really good too.

    Heyho :)

But if just a server thing it'll be back. If I find such I'll post it again.

I'd be happy to do it, could start with one on useful books, i.e. lists of the most helpful diet ones, cookery ones and theory ones. Please PM me your favourites, along with 'why' and I'll put them in a single post. If you include a link or other info to where you found/ can get it i.e. Amazon, local charity shop etc I'll stick that in as well.

Anyway, I have a 'so brand new it's still sparkling' tip for substituting lasagna sheets...

I've done the standing around frying off courgette or aubergine but sometimes it just isn't an option and neither is faffing around with making skinny omelettes (not enough energy for the former and too clumsy for the latter), and leek is still quite carby, sooooo....

    thin sliced sandwich beef/ chicken

can't believe no-one thought of it before

(actually they probably have but I haven't seen it mentioned)

OK hun, your obviously on a creative streak! :j

I love you just now for 2 reasons.
1 - You are going to edit a really good page of information! :j That is so cool! You'll do it better by having headings and putting new info under the right one! :j Not like me - I just add as they come. :o But you could add under headings!

    Books, nutrition. whatever!

2- you are going to post that fantastic idea under it's own post so I can add it in there as a proper recipe :) Trust me - it needs a recipe orientated post :rotfl::beer:

I've always thort you are amazing. Now I know it. :A Nice to talk to another who can be bothered for the good of the many.

Keeps it all where we can find it - which is nice :rotfl:

it's so nice to be appreciated :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

as you may have gathered the last couple of months have been a bit of a grind (and not enough grind if you get my gist) but everything is on the up at the moment: DS2 has a new, more experienced OT, a fabulous 1:1, a fun teacher, a solicitor to help with the appeal; His had has his first paid gig in two weeks time and several more lined up after that; I'm pain free (other than wheat/ gluten related) for the first time in months; DSD is finally growing up (16 going on 6 until a couple of months ago); DS1 is coming to visit at half term and I may have somewhere to move to :D

    Pasta Substitutes

    Spaghetti
    1. julienne courgette
    2. ditto done with 'spiralizer'

    Lasagna
    1. thin sliced sandwich beef/ chicken
    2. courgette - slice thinly and fry until soft
    3. aubergine - peel, slice thinly and fry until soft
    4. leek - choose the fattest possible, carefully cut halfway through lengthways to form large rectangular sheets, blanch (pour over boiling water) to soften
    5. skinny omelettes - taken from the low carb gormet
    preheat oven to 180/350/gas4
butter two non-stick baking sheets or line with greaseproof paper and butter that
beat a tub (230g) of philly
add 12 eggs one at a time and beat
add a mid-size pot (240ml/8oz) cream and seasonings
divide between the baking sheets and sprinkle with
115g/4oz each of mozzarella and cheddar
bake for 20 minutes or until set
invert onto separate baking sheets (that's right folks, the recipe says you need 4!)
allow to cool on a wire rack
    cover and refrigerate.
