But they're definitely doing foundation strengthening work on it at the moment
That case is all about the wether MGM or the builders get any cash, if they are doing foundation work I wonder who is paying and why? as MGM has no money.
PS hadnt seen Stonemans post, maybe that is what they are doing
doesnt matter either way though except I would like to be there for an implosion, I have watched them all on you tube etc0 -

VALUE FOR MONEYReally? When did that change?
I had a big debate with them last August as my booking confirmation stated washer/dryers were available but they were absolutely adamant they weren't. I kicked up a bit of a fuss (had four peoples' worth of twelve days' clothes that I'd specifically saved because I thought there were facilities there) and eventually they "allowed" me to use the owners facility as a one off. It was on the ground (1st) floor. We were in Tower 2 though I'd imagine the setup is the same in all of them (?)
I'd be surprised if they were wrong as I did make a fuss, speak to a manager etc, but stranger things have happened....
We stayed there from 23rd Aug-6th Sept and were given access to the laundry room, have stayed there for 11 nights before and it wasnt mentioned but obv not sure what would have happened if I had asked0 -

Thanks.
We stayed 12 months earlier and the manager said they would override our key card to give us special access to the laundry facility, but that it would only work for the one night. Whether this was a load of old tosh I don't know!0 -
hi, looking for a bit of info really, were going for a week nov 4th and im looking to book at the flamingo for the whole week as we were there last year and got a fantastic "go" room overlooking the fountains useing the $20 upgrade trick. The problem is ,when im on the flamingo website its telling me i can only book the Go room up until thurs as all the Go rooms including minisuites are booked up for the entire weekend after that, yet when i go through another travel site say, hotels.com or trivago it lets me book a Go room for the entire week ? i dont want to book through a travel site and then find when i get there , there are only the basic rooms actualy available, would rather book direct with them if only for 4 days, and then change hotels, or do i trust the travel sites ? any info is appreciated ,,, thanks0

VALUE FOR MONEYTrip report time!
I liked the TR posted recently which broke it down into themes, rather than day by day...
part 1...
Food
i won’t detail every place we ate, but here were some of the highlights
first night was now the traditional stop off at Cheeseburger in Miracle Mile... always delivers that much needed hit of american food! decent value and great service - despite having a party of 70 (!) sat down at the back, food was delivered really quickly.
Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars was very impressive. pricewise it was about standard, $35pp which includes free soda, or for $15 you can have unlimited alcohol (not sure what the limits/options are as we didn’t take this) - glass of white zinfadel on its own was about $6/7. the food was really good quality and plentiful! it’s obviously taken a lead from the Wicked Spoon, and the dessert station was very impressive - including individual souffles which were quite something. the main feature is the open kitchens, so you can see all the prep going on... the chefs were happy to chat about the food and talk you through things, so that was nice. We arrived at about 5ish and had to wait in line for about 45mins (though there was a quick line for TR, though not sure what level you have to be at... not sure if it was open to hotel guests either)... though the wait was also down to an obnoxious older american couple who were kicking off about something, and that held things up. they were also trying to sell the alcohol upgrade and sign up people for TR if you weren’t already.
Holsteins in the Cosmopolitan didn’t disappoint and we thought it was really good value and great quality - burgers+fries were about $14/15. we had the lollipops for dessert which looked stunning, though were more theatre than value... but tasty all the same.
Another regular fixture for us is a champagne brunch at the Aria buffet... well worth it, as if nothing else you get unlimited Jean Philippe patisserie items! again, there is such a great range of food and really good quality.
we had make-your-own frozen yogurt at Blizz in The Mirage... this was great fun choosing/vending your own yogurts and adding your own toppings. you pay by weight, and two small (ha, not THAT small!) containers came to about $18 ($9 each). these were great to eat at their bar and people watch.
D.Vino in Monte Carlo was a really nice italian place we found... the service was exceptionally good, continually topping up complimentary breads/oils (lovely!) and drinks. the food was really tasty (can recommend the bucatini + meatballs!) and it was a lovely relaxed place to eat, you didn’t feel like you were in the casino at all. 2 entrees, 2 desserts and drinks (inc alcohol) came to about $80. would definitely go back here again.
Had breakfast at Sugar Factory at Paris on our last morning. the food was great, the service wasn’t so good - but it looked a very busy place, i haven’t seen so many staff in one place! i get the feeling they live off their image, rather than substance... but would definitely go back to try some of the other things on the menu, especially the milkshakes/desserts.0 -

I dont know how 3rd party sites work but it maybe that there are x amount of rooms block booked for 3rd party sites so thats why you can book with them.
personally i wouldnt worry about it not being available as in theory you would be well looked after by Flamingo if the worst case scenario happened but I doubt it would0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYTrip report - part 2
Trips/Events
we didn’t do too much on this trip, but really enjoyed the couple of things we did
Jersey Boys at Paris - we had booked $99 tickets through bestofvegas.com a good few months ago, but i think you can get even cheaper tickets now. these were for orchestra stall seats and we had a great view about 20 rows back. i never like sitting right at the front as you’re always looking up and straining your neck (like people who fit flat screen TVs to the wall above a fireplace, why?!). But otherwise, i wouldn’t say there’s a bad seat in the house really. the show itself was really very good - and i’m not a theatre/musical fan at all. but i am a big music fan and love learning music history (though i appreciate it’s a story told from one point of view). it was really fast moving and good fun - you’ll love it if you’re a music fan, but not a theatre-goer.
Scoot City Red Rock Canyon morning trip - we did this on the morning of the day it threw it down with rain in the afternoon, so were very lucky! i can only echo what the TA reports say - it is incredibly good fun, but don’t expect an informative tour of the park. the guides know a bit, enough to give you an idea, but are Scoot City employees, not Red Rock employees. As such, you only get about 15mins in the visitors centre, which is not even close to long enough, so would like to go back to find out a bit more. You’re really well looked after, the guides bring loads of bottled water for everyone. we used a BOGOF Groupon, so was only $125 for 2 of us. would i pay $125 per person? do you know, i think i probably would, but with a groupon, it’s got to a must! if they do a groupon for the Strip tour, i’d look forward to that.
Round The World tasting at Coca-Cola world - ok, not really an event, but didn’t want to put it under ‘food’! For $7 for 2 trays of 16 different Coca-Cola samples, this was definitely good fun - though you must take/get something savoury to eat straight after as it is sugar overload! who knew Coke made so many different drinks - some are surprisingly nice, some are VILE! On one’s wikipedia page, it says about 2 people in 1000 claim to ‘like’ one of the flavours. Blurgh!
Gold & Silver Pawn shop (Pawn Stars) - we got a taxi up there for about 10am on Monday morning, and contrary to many reports, there was no line at all to get in. there were quite a few people looking around the shop, but not enough so you couldn’t see anything. none of the ‘stars’ were there, but we went expecting this - however they were filming there the following day, and Chumlee was welcoming all the taxis on the Wednesday (driver appreciation day apparently!), so you stand a fair chance of seeing them if you went, I’d say. Obviously this is only a trip to do if you like the show (and yes, definitely worth it), we joked with the taxi driver about how he doesn’t really get tourists wanting to go a random out-of-town pawn shop! we were a bit worried about how to get back, but there are always a couple of cabs in the parking lot, and the Deuce stops not too far away... though i’m not sure i’d really want to be walking around that part of town, even in daylight! But we jumped into a cab to the North Premium outlets, so that was a bit of MSE at work!0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYTrip report - part 3
Hotel
we stayed, as always, at the Vdara - which works perfectly for us, it’s close enough to walk to the strip/other hotels, but set back just enough to offer a bit of a retreat. as usual, staff are really friendly and the place is immaculate. we had booked an entry level ‘deluxe suite’, but asked about an upgrade at the desk (so we could get that all important washer + dryer). Our strategy was to ask nicely rather than a $20 sandwich, so i asked if they had any Vdara or Corner suites available. He said they had one Vdara suite available (maybe BS, maybe true - it was a Friday afternoon), which would be an extra $60/night, but he could do us a deal for $30/night - so we said yes pleased. really glad we did, the room was great and had a perfect view up the Strip and of the Bellagio fountains, on the 32nd floor. the only 2 issues we had were: 1) the wifi didn’t work in the room (but did everywhere else in the hotel - we rang the front desk and were put through to their outsourced IT support, who raised a ticket, but no idea if anyone came) … 2) there was no hot water from the bathroom sinks, though were in the shower/WC, etc. For some this may have been an issue, but didn’t really impact on us so couldn’t be bothered kicking up a fuss/moving rooms, etc. I will email them and make a point though.
The pool did get busy in the afternoons, though there were always beds available, though one day we did have to do a couple of laps to find somewhere to sunbathe! the clientele of the hotel isn’t really families and kids, so that makes the pool quite a nice place to be. waitress service wasn’t as on-the-ball as previous visits, but they were kept pretty busy with lots of food orders it seemed! drinks aren’t the cheapest there (about $8/9 for a frozen cocktail), but we are on holiday!
whilst wandering round the other hotels, some for the first time, we really liked the look of Monte Carlo and The Mirage as possible places to stay - next we would like to try somewhere different. anyone stayed at these and have an opinion?0
