  • Finally! Happy Friday!! :D:D

This week has gone well. Resisted spending on a few occasions (although went to the salon last night for some waxing  :p) Overall, I stuck to budget so I'm happy.

Sold 2 items on ebay and still waiting on 1 to pay me. Still free listing so relisted the rest again. Don't hold out much hope for them selling. Should probably take the time to re-word stuff but just haven't got around to it.

International Air Show tomorrow and Sunday so that's my weekend sorted!! :) Looking forward to it, and hoping weather stays dry... :o Anyone else going?
Just seen on the website too they're doing a concert for the first time. That's not what caught my attention though. It was this...
As darkness falls, two aerobatic aircraft will approach the concert site at Ramore Head and trail fireworks and flares across the sky in a routine set to music. This is the first time this kind of display will be staged in the whole of Ireland and is set to be one of the highlights of a busy weekend. The aircraft will perform a series of rolls, loops and fast passes painting the sky with bursts of colour, smoke and sparkle trails.

  • :rotfl: So much for me being chuffed I stuck to budget last week. I took out my 'allowance' on Friday for the week... and by Sunday evening it was gone! :o

In saying that, there was quite a lot going on this weekend which is out of the norm. Thankfully my 'budget' for each week does leave a surplus in the bank for times like this when I do go over what I should.

In saying that, I've already got £40 in shrapnel to lodge in the bank :j Usually do that towards the end of the month nearer payday and it's also handy to have in case of emergency! ;)

AND.... I noticed I've now been promoted to Serious MoneySaving Fan!!!! Woohoo!!! NO idea when that happened!! Too busy posting...!! lol ;):p

  • Aiming for a NSD today so fingers crossed!! ;)
Have lunch in with me and going to SIL for lunch so I should be ok! Keep ya's posted!!! :D

Went out for a cappucino with OH last night. Was a cold evening so was really cosy sitting in Bentleys with a hot cuppa. Mmmmmm :D

Stopped off at Tesco's before going home and bargains galore:

    1.5kg spuds 18p
4 pack burgers with tomato and herb 33p
prepacked fruit (melon and grape) 20p
2x punnets of strawberries 20p each
    punnet raspberries 20p
    pack soda farls 20p
    ciabatta bread 22p
    salad leaves 10p
2x mini almond croissants (6 pack) 20p each - our favs!!!!

:j Well pleased with all that shopping for sure!!

Could've stocked up on more bread at dirt cheap prices but we'd already got 4x loaves the other day for pittance and the freezer is full!! lol :)

Have a good day everyone

  • I used to spend so much at lunchitme until I cut my hours and no longer get a lunchtime.
Could you take a packed lunch and a good book and find a quiet place to sit and read ? I also picked one day out as a treat day and only on that day allowed myself a take away coffee and muffin rather than getting one every day. I agree, leave the debit card behind in case you get tempted and why not set yourself a budget of £1 or £2 a day or whatever. That way just take the £2 and so you can treat yourself to something small then wean off gradually rather than feel deprived and have a big blow out !

Have had a cough for about 2 months, which can sometimes get a bit chesty. Also feel like I'm gasping for breath between coughs too which isn't pleasant. Sounds like my someone has their hand around my throat... :(
Anyway, tried cough medicine. No good. Went to Dr after a couple weeks and got anti-biotics. No good but we both figured a slight improvement. Prescription for cough medicine. Again no good. Few weeks later (last Friday) I go back to Dr. Got an inhaler which does seem to help a bit with the gasping part, although cough still there. Chest xray on Tuesday, then blood tests on Wednesday. Rang there to get results: full blood count, CRP, white cell count, and xray: all satisfactory.

So seemingly it's 'just' a cough and I'm fit and healthy... :o

Although when it sounds like my insides are about to come out I def have my doubts...

Anyway, hope you all have a fab weekend :)

Just delurking to comment on this. When you were a kid were you vaccinated for whooping cough or did you have it?

The reason I ask is that my DS1 had a cough that didn't repsond to medicine, and in the end the DR got him tested for whooping cough. Came back positive. Turns out that in a certain percentage of people the whooping cough vaccination can 'wear off' leaving them susceptible again. He is now off school for 3 days and antibiotics for 14.....

I like that idea - one 'treat' day. Sometimes I find myself stopping off at the cafe on my way in to work, but I do try to limit myself to one day a week.

I don't mind not carrying any money to work, but my problem is that OH gets home before me and usually starts on dinner. If he's missing an ingredient he'll usually text or call me to pick it up on my way home - so then I do need more cash!

I do think I've managed to cut down a lot of lunchtime spending in the last couple months. It is just mind over matter I think!!!

    Thank you!! :D

Hmmmmm... interesting. Appreciate the info chev.

Just texted mum to ask but she's away on hols for a few days. She'll be able to check her 'diary' when she gets back, although she does think I was vaccinated.

I would've thought the blood tests or xray would've shown up something like that, no? Or antibiotics would've cleared it up?

Have to say the inhaler does seem to help. I'm not coughing quite so much and I'm not gasping quite so much either. Usually. I'll maybe see if I can ring and speak to the Dr and make that suggestion...

    Thanks for that :)

    EDIT:
I like your signature! Don't mind the 9-5.30 bit, but I'd have voted for 2 days working and 5 days weekend instead ;)

The thing with blood tests is you have to ask for the test to be done, otherwise the results would take ages.

And the whooping cough test here is done from a swab taken from right up your nose (poor DS was a bit shocked by that!), rather than from blood. So I don't know. He is also asthmatic so we increased his meds for these automatically anyway, so I can't tell you if they helped or not really.

Hope you are feeling better anyway. By the time DS was diagnosed he was over the worst of it but still infectious so he has had 5 days quarantine until the antibiotics start to take effect. Luckily he hasn't been too 'bored'......

Spoke to the Dr ref whooping cough and he said it's unlikely but not impossible. Worst of it would be over by now and the tests are never always 100%. He mentioned something about respiratory test but thinking I could maybe just leave it as is. I'm alive and the cough is calming down a bit.
Although the cold/wet weather and walking to/from work probably won't help :p

    Doing ok with finances:
Almost managed a NSD Monday but was dying for a cuppa so got one on way back to work at lunchtime :o
Yesterday me and OH did our Tesco shop :(
Today I'm meeting my SIL for lunch so out comes the purse again!! :o Don't mind so much meeting her out for lunch as I still take my sarnies with me and hide them under the table! Means I'm only buying a cuppa (and maybe a bun!), rather than a full lunch :)

Account with FD seems to be going according to plan and dd should be set up within a few days. Got my so set up for the regular saver so my target is to get the £3600 by the end of 12 months  It'll be tight I think but will try!! I'm hoping it doesn't take too long to get my £100 bonus from them either...! Any ideas on that one?

    EDIT:
changed my sig to show my FD target!
