One of my fav quotes is....

Mealtimes are when you sit down to continue eating

Know that's true in my case anyway :rotfl:

Hmmmmm I gave up sitting at my desk during breaks a long, long time ago. Take for example a 15 min unpaid tea break in the morning. If you stay at your desk and work between sups of tea, that's 1+1/4hrs unpaid work per week, and 60 hours a year of unpaid work you're doing!!! (I've also taken off 20 days/4 weeks annual leave so that's not included!) That's for 1 employee. If a business has 10 employees, that's 600 hours of work they're getting done for free! And we're not even counting lunch breaks yet!!!

Once I worked that out, I make sure I take my breaks to the very second :);)

  • How about Ebay selling? I've fallen off the wagon a bit recently, but for the first 5 months of this year I ebayed like mad, and then would ONLY allow myself to shop online if I had the money in my Paypal account to cover it.

You'll get a buzz from watching the bids come in at lunchtime, and posting your sales will give you something to do some lunchtimes too. It's recycling!

I go through phases on ebay actually! Free listing is great but the selling fees plus paypal fees put me off. Plus the hassle of packing and posting too :p (laziness probably!!) Anything I've listed recently either hasn't sold or just hasn't sold for much to make it worth my while. And you kinda need a low starting bid to get people interested in the first place.

I've cd's and dvd's to 'get rid of', so thought about one of those websites that you can send them in to. Heard mixed reports right enough so any (reliable!) suggestions would be much appreciated!! :)

Managed to lodge £52 in the bank at lunch time which was my 'shrapnel' for this month :D:D

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah payday :j :j

...and what do I go and do?! Stop at (one of) my fav cafe's on the way into work and treat myself to a cappucino (to wake me up!) and malteser bun (for 'dessert' after lunch)!!! :D

It's the simple things in life and little luxuries that keep me sane :rotfl:

Hope everyone is having a good day

Not quite the 'every day' dilemma this one, but it's an 'every year' one!!

I find that every year at Christmas I end up with more and more people to buy for! Decided last year I'd cut out my siblings, but left it too late (August!!?!!) as one of my sisters had already started shopping!!

Sooooo.... sent them a text yesterday (3 sisters and 1 brother) to say I wasn't getting them presents and to not buy me anything either. Basically told them there's too many to buy for, too much money being spent, too much not knowing what to buy, and too much getting stuff that's maybe not needed/wanted (in the nicest possible way!! :o :rotfl:)

I will just be buying mum and dad, the nieces/nephews, and a couple of close friends. Will be able to spend a bit more on mum and dad too which I'm happy about. So far bro and 1 sis have come back to say all is hunky dorey so happy days :D

Spoke to my OH last night and we've agreed to not buy each other presents, and we'll just go away for a night (or two) over the holidays (he's a nightmare to buy for anyway :p)

Bit of a relief all that actually. Last few years it's just been getting more difficult to 'cope' with buying for so many at Christmas.

    Happy Friday everybody

Stopped off for a cappucino 'treat' on way into work seeing as it's Friday. Had managed to fill my loyalty card so got it for free :D Also got it skimmed instead of the usual fatty whole milk so saved on calories too!! :rotfl: (have to admit though it def doesn't taste the same. Figure I'll stick with the semi from now on!!)

Got a fleece yesterday. Trespass. Half price. But taking it back today again :) Will use the money to get a birthday pressie for my nephew instead

Oooooooh.... Went into Card Factory yesterday to get a birthday card for my nephew. Lo and behold. Christmas cards the WHOLE way down one wall!!!!! Couldn't believe it!!!! It's August for cripes sake!!!!!

I found that once I had cleared all my debt I found that the 'odd' thing here and there was ok. But I have adopted my own 'floor limit' of £5 if its more than that I go and with drawn the cash. I could spend £100's on my cards when I wasn't seeing the money but for me having to take out £50 etc hurts me more and the realisation is more.

    Thanks samtoby :D

I had to stop carrying my debit card around with me :o Dangerous stuff!! lol

I lift £x per week and that's to last me for everything, inc treats. Decided last month I'd stick £20 in my paypal account when I got paid, and use it for random ebay purchases (I'm such a sucker!!) as those wee £2 or £3s soon mount up and are harder to keep a track of. I've still got the most of the £20 left coz I've actually bought very little which is fab! :T

Tonight is pizza night :D Can't wait!! 'Splashing out' on the 2 for £4 fresh pizzas from Asda. Oooo they're so yum! His is the veggie one and mine the American Hot - love it!!

    Happy Tuesday all

This morning I requested my TopCashBack balance to be transferred to my shiny new Love2Shop card! :D Nice!!

Two of OH's DD birthdays this month. Have told them I'd give them £x cash or take them shopping or whatever they preferred. DD2 had already decided she wanted a couple of Benefit items so went shopping online last night. Bought 2 products and got 3 free mini's, plus free P&P, plus free makeup bag, plus went through TopCashBack!! Everybody wins!! :D:D

Now.... Problem: Santander doing our heads in at the min :wall: (see other thread in the venting section!!) I'm trying to find out now which is the best bank to go with. The balance for OH is high so would need a good interest rate. Mine not so much. Wouldn't go near Halifax with a barge pole either so that's out of the question. Don't need any other frills or benefits. Just good interest rates. Any suggestions?
