^^ If you can get in!! The queues are often enormous (so often that I haven't been that motivated to queue up in them yet...!). A Priori Th!'s hot chocolates are epically nice though; they can be found in the Passage Vivienne (1st/2nd arrondissement).

The only time i have been there was a good 5 or 6 years ago maybe more.

There were no queues, and i fell in love with the ladies powder room, very old fashioned, very Parisian.

Where to find the breathalysers, I tried many supermarkets/hypermarkets - Non.

In the motoring section - Non
In the medical section - Non (you can't even get asprins)
In the Out doors section - Non
In the booze section - Non
At the cash desks - Non, everything from cat insurance to condoms but Non.

At the filling station - Non

Eventually in the separate Car accessory building of one L'eclerc supermarket I found a full box of them hidden away - 1 Euro each.

Can you imagine the scene if it was Britain bringing in this law, Every single shop would have piles of them with dire warnings about the new law in just 1 month's time. They'd be 2 for a pound in Poundland an some supermarket would give them free with 2 bottles of plonk. They'd have Union jack versions for the Jubilee and the Daily Wail would be running stories on how they give you some unspeakable disease.
Some other tabloid would run a story in big letters, 'New Blow, Jobs
lost due to booze test' . MSE would tell you the cheapest place to buy them (with cashback of course), Blue Peter would show you how to make your own, panic buying would lead to 'shortages' and prices would start to creep up.
I had asked various French type people where they had got theirs and not one had even given it a though or had any urgent plans to track some down.

PS. They are dated and last two years.

I haven't managed to find any yet myself. To be honest I gave up after a few fruitless searches.

I have a theory though... The damn ferry companies have bought all the stock to flog to unsuspecting brits at £7.50 a pop. I'm sure the ferry was listing cos it was carrying so many of the things :)

If only they'd thought of this sooner perhaps poor Diana would still be with us ;).

I saw an electronic breathalyser somewhere online for £20 this week whilst I was looking for something else. I'll try and dig out the link from my history.

Cheers Bob, I will have to get a few later on this year, when I go on holiday. Knowing my luck, I will be stopped and checked, as I have been numerous times before, despite doing nothing wrong.
    Better safe than sorry.

    Is it stamped NF?

I am starting to get a bit concerned about this subject, because I have a long trip coming up next month, and need to get the breathalysers. I have seen them advertised on Ebay but nowhere else, and the feedback is not brilliant, regarding packaging and damaged kit.
It would not surprise me at all, if it was just the British drivers being targeted, in order to make easy money for the French government.

Halfords seem to have them - "The Alcosense Single Use Breathalyser Twin Pack is an NF approved breathalyser that meets the new law in France" - £5.99 for a twin pack.
  • Does this mean that when everyone gets stopped after a toll booth, then les flics now uses the drivers breathalyser and not one they supply?
