Btw, there is already a thread about e-cigs...
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1243625
I only found out about them by accident, after reading about them on here, on a totally non related thread. They're still not mainstream and alot of people don't understand them, or fear them because there is alot of confusing information out there.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Im using an ecig Lotus....I have tried everything else more times than I care to remember! The ecig is working well for me, Im happy to have an addiction to nicotine but not the toxins that go with.Even my dr advised that I could rely on nicotine forever and it wouldnt have a negative impact on my health.
Different things suit different people but the ecig suits me!!0 -
Many thanks indeed for your input, Lotus-eater, I for one truly appreciate it and I'm delighted there's already a thread on MSE.
The problem comes when folk ask about ecigs, I tend to think most of them mean electronic cigs "dummy" ones. If they do mean those then I'm happy enough to still advise, but I think you'd appreciate that I'm not able to give advice about something I know nothing about.
I hope Erme reads your post and comes across to you to help you out as she really does have a lot of knowledge and wisdom about them.
All the best and it's so good to hear you quit with them!!!
Thanks so much for coming on and I'll keep the link so I can send folk over!

Hi again dear Brenda!!!!!! :j I truly can't tell you how absolutely wonderful to hear from you after all this time! It's almost 6 months after your operation! Oh what a time you had and all that you've suffered at the hands of cancer via fags, but it's now so good to hear that the Drs really are doing all they can to free you from this terrible disease. Thank you so very much indeed for coming back to update us, Brenda, I really do appreciate it, especially at a time when we have so many 'quitters in progress' here.
All very best wishes for restoration to good health! :grinheart

Hi again Carl!!!!! It's marvellous to see you too...and after 2 whole years of being freed from the evils of fags and all the harm they do us!V e r y .... m a n y .... c o n g r a t u l a ti o n s
Thanks so much, Carl, there are so many here who I'm sure will benefit so much from your post.
Thank you!

Well done, Viv, you've done tremendously well since stopping all that time ago, quite possibly saved your life as well as your leg too!!!
Hi Flis, all being well this is Day 3 for you?! Forget the cold capsules as that's wasting money; the way you're feeling is all down to stopping smoking...nothing more! Just let it pass and allow your body the chance to get used to the fact they you aren't going to be puffing again and it'll all soon pass. Some people have awful stomach pains, that too is all due to the shock to the system of stopping! You'll soon pass through it all, Flis, truly!

Hi jacci45, before you had the tumour come up in your wrist had you had tonsillitis? I ask as that's what happened with our DD after a bout, she had the tumour there for some time before they finally said it was benign and due to the tonsillitis.
Sue x
Hi Sparticus* and what some terrific stats from silkquit!!!!! The sleep patters affect so many of us, but as with all other quitting symptom - they do pass before long!! Normally I wouldn't recommend Night Nurse, but as you're unable to get the Kalms and starting a new job tomorrow I can see why you're trying it. Get some Kamls as soon as you can, and don't forget a relaxing bath/shower, milky drink and some light reading before you first got to sleep - then again when you wake so your eyes soon get tired again then let yourself drift off again.

There you are everyone, if stclair, drs mum and scores of others CAN quit and via this thread....so CAN you!!!! Push ahead all those 'in progress' and come on in all you 'lurkers' you CAN all do it!!!

Hi Sue, No I didnt have tonsilitis...what I have is an enchrondroma (SP?) basically its there because when you are born each bone has whats called a bone plate and its job is to produce cells in order to make your bones grow to turn you from a baby to an adult. Aparently in 20 % of people the bone plate rather than stopping when you reach skeletal maturity keeps on going and that is what has happened to me.
The bone is now weak which is why it broke with minimal force so tumour will be removed, bone graft put it and then back in plaster for 4/6 weeks. having it done 1/2 and am looking forward to being normal again!!
Non smoking is going beautifully!!0 -
Hi Sue,
yes Day 3 for me. Am still really suffering from cold, cough and headache. Felt quite sick as well, when I'm coughing I keep gagging! Not much fun. Today's been tough back in usual routine and I have had a few moments that I found hard to get thru, but I have done it without any fags, woohoo!
Stats are, smoke free for 2days 15 hrs, money saved £11.44 (although spent some on choc and paracetemol!!), 39 fags not smoked, added 3hrs 15mins to my life!! I will keep going and get thru this. My quit kit turned up today from the NHS and even that says that day 3 is hard, so hopefully things will start getting easier and I will see some benefits soon.

VERY well done, Flis!!!! Terrific stats so soon! Drink plenty of water to push the toxins through your body. If you cough and bring up anything - be sure to spit it out!!!
Keep going strong and get well soon.

When someone says e-cig, or electronic cigarette, then that's what they mean, surely?
If they say dummy cig, then that's what they mean.
I don't know about you giving advice or not tbh? I was just offering, if I could help, then they can contact me, I've gone through all the start up problems and the little things people come across when they start looking at them.
I'm not going to be reading this thread everyday, although I may look in now and again, just in case.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
