  • Hey everyone. Great to see you all doing so well.
I havent used my quick mist spray in just over a week now. Although i carry it around with me Everytime I leave the house. It's asthough having it in my pocket stops the cravings.

I am dreading my court hearing next month as I know i will find it teally stressful and its a time where I would normally smoke much more than usual. But I'm going to take my spray as back up.

Thnx Sue. :D The Night Nurse didn't really help so went on a Kalms mission after work yesterday. Combined with your relaxation pointers, worked like a treat! Felt quite energised today and managed to do my newbie jogging route with no stops this evening, so my stamina's up too :j

Hi Sparticus and thank you so much for letting me know how the Kalms combined with relaxation points worked so successfully for you! I really am so pleased as we all need a good night's sleep, especially when going through the earlier times of quitting...and after getting into jogging!

    Well done!

    Great news of yours jacci!

Hi RainbowDreamer, I'm sure you're quite right that the reassurance of having the mist with you helps a great deal, so keep taking it as, if it works for you then it has to be good! You're doing so very well, RD, though I was so sorry to hear about your court case coming up, as far as know I was unaware of you having said anything before, though much has been going on around here lately so do forgive me if I've forgotten, please!

IF you wish to talk about it then please don't hesitate to PM me, but, I stress, only IF you wish to. One way to view it is, "what's the worse than can happen?" Once you face that (with anything in life) it seems to become a whole lot easier to bear. BTW, invest in a little bottle of Bach's Rescue Remedyfrom your Pharmacist, it really is good at relaxing us all at stressful times.

I'm thinking of you, RD please try hard not to worry - it won't change the outcome! :)

    Good Morning Everyone

gosh ive not been on mse for ages, someone kindly reminded me about this thread..

Had my last cig last night.... Put a 24hr patch on at 10.30pm, Woke up feeling a little dizzy and sick, but its worn off now.

By this time ive normally had 4 cigs and one one the way walking little lad to school, everyone with a brew, this morning ive had one tea and one coffee, Im up everyday at 6am to get my disabled daughter up washed and dressed for college....

I thought today would be the worst morning of my life and wondered how I would cope, tis very stressfull here of a morning... 3 kids 3 different schools BUT I did it yayyy

And in a couple of hours I can give myself a sticker from the quit kit.... giddy
  • Hi all don't mind if I join do you?

I am on day two, had an awful day yesterday (no cravings just other carp) and last night had about 3 hours sleep with the kids waking me up every time I had just got off to sleep again! Today I am back in a happy frame of mind. I keep catching myself though, thinking 'I'll just get DH to make me a roll up while I am doing this' :o . DH is also stopping smoking but he is using NRT which I do not personally agree with but I am supporting him fully with his decision.

Even though I don't want/need a cigarette at the mo (which I hate saying as it implies I have already made my mind up that I will fail :( ) Saturday I feel is going to be tough, I spend from 1pm till about 9pm with my best friend who smokes, in my method of stopping smoking, is to not avoid social occasions with other smokers. Yet here I am dreading it and the fact I am questioning this makes me feel like I stopped smoking at the wrong time. Which in itself is just another excuse to put it off and start again, ruining my greatest achievment.

thank you all for listening! I too will listen and try to help if I can

Hi Flis, I see you're still going brilliantly and well done you!!! Did you have a good night last night with your friend. Good to hear the cold is slowly starting to go. Your Cessation Nurse is going to be soooo happy with you tomorrow! :j

Hello and welcome to the thread, missstropy and spicyprawn!

When you're coping with 3 youngsters, missstropy you're doing wonderfully to do so without those nasty nicotine demons that come in the form of white sticks. Keep up in the same spirit and step by step, day by day, you'll be doing so well.

I see your point re your DH and smoking, spicyprawn, and to a certain extent I can agree as I think it's all over much quicker - but- we're all different, it's a bit like politics, we all know what we want, but we have different ways of getting there! Some feel more secure with some form of NRT as they hate the thought of not being able to fulfil their dream and if that's the case, they make a fair point and I can agree. Each to their own.

Re you putting yourself amongst smokers sooooo quickly I don't think is very wise as you're far too vulnerable this early, but again, it's your choice to make, but little wonder you're already finding the prospect of spending 8 hours in the company of a smoker so daunting. I think it's that which is worrying you more than the time you've chosen to start your journey!

Both of you might find help in using the Quitters Pledge to help on your journeys. Try the pledge below at the start of each day:
    Quitters Pledge

Today I'm not going to smoke any cigarettes, tomorrow IF I wish I may do so.
Then renew your pledge the next day and so on.

All best wishes to you both and please keep coming to the thread as it helps to chat about feelings.

  • Hi peeps

Well done to everyone on loads of days..........I ENVY YOU :o (said in a very deep voice)

    At 9pm I will have done 48 hours..........two whole days :D:D

    Check me out :)

DH thought he saw me have a fag this morning, he informed me this afternoon. That statement made me very angry :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Don't panic, he is still alive ;)

Had a few cravings today, arriving early to jumble sale, and when I found foster cat with a manky eye as his sister (other foster cat) had obviously given him a swipe.

Waiting is a trigger point as I fill the time having a fag.

Drama is a trigger point as I would have had a fag to calm my nerves while ringing the vet. Guess what......... the appointment was made sooner coz I didn't waste time rolling a fag :rotfl:

Love hearing about other peoples stories it helps me loads so please keep posting

Excellent PIC, 2 WHOLE DAYS (plus a bit) is terrific and remember..all the others who are on multiple days now were where you are now at one time! You'll be there soon enough, til then - a day at a time is the best wy to take it.

I only gave spicey my thoughts as she seemed very tentative, it's nothing hard and fast and won't apply to everyone as some folk can be with others from Day 1 and just not be affected. So you go on and enjoy yourself and have a great time - just don't go heavy on the alcohol!

Well done with the cat rescue - an extra life for him due to a smokeless PIC eh!!!

Keep up the GREAT work, PIC and you'll soon be taking on the world!

  • Hi guys

Huge well done to everyone who is keeping on with the quitting :T
and lots of luck n wishes to all the new starters :)

    I can't believe i've got to 10 weeks - but i'm chuffed all the same:D

No longer taking the Champix - only because i was always forgetting (i know little old numpty me) & checked with stop smoking nurse at last appointment and she said she was happy for me to stop taking them a couple of weeks early as i'd done so well * YAY*

Anyways had my very first ever tap dance lesson tonight - was lots of fun - i'm really enjoying having the money to do stuff that i always wanted and could never afford. Why oh why did i spend 20 years wasting all that money - i've saved roughly 500 quid since i quit:eek:

To those worried about being with other smokers - it can be hard - but my OH smokes & has no intention of quitting (i'm working on it) at the moment, so being around someone with a fag doesn't always mean you'll fail.

To Sue - things better at home think i've finally made a breakthrough, early days but signs are good - keep your fingers crossed

    hugs to all as always

    Chrissie .xx
