I brought this post over from the last page so you PIC and spicy wouldn't miss it.
Excellent PIC, 2 WHOLE DAYS (plus a bit) is terrific and remember..all the others who are on multiple days now were where you are now at one time! You'll be there soon enough, til then - a day at a time is the best wy to take it.
I only gave spicey my thoughts as she seemed very tentative, it's nothing hard and fast and won't apply to everyone as some folk can be with others from Day 1 and just not be affected. So you go on and enjoy yourself and have a great time - just don't go heavy on the alcohol!
Well done with the cat rescue - an extra life for him due to a smokeless PIC eh!!!
Keep up the GREAT work, PIC and you'll soon be taking on the world!

Anyways had my very first ever tap dance lesson tonight - was lots of fun - i'm really enjoying having the money to do stuff that i always wanted and could never afford. Why oh why did i spend 20 years wasting all that money - i've saved roughly 500 quid since i quit:eek:
To those worried about being with other smokers - it can be hard - but my OH smokes & has no intention of quitting (i'm working on it) at the moment, so being around someone with a fag doesn't always mean you'll fail.
To Sue - things better at home think i've finally made a breakthrough, early days but signs are good - keep your fingers crossed
hugs to all as always
Chrissie .xx
Hi there Chrissie and absolutely amazing news that you've reached TEN weeks free, with a massive savings of £500!!!!!! :T:T Good to hear your Cessation Nurse approves you stopping the Champix!! It's always good to be off any drug when you don't need it.
Brilliant news about the tap dancing!!! I used to do that a few years ago and loved it - keep upright Chrissie - I didn't and my ankle went under me!!! Very exhilarating and gd for the endorphins in the brain! I hope you also enjoyed your pantomime run!!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you re home and hope with all my heart that the possible breakthrough comes to real fruition.
All the VERY best Chrissie, you certainly deserve it and have worked so hard.

Please may I join your thread....
Just put my last cigarette out but have been reading the Allen Carr book and need to start somewhere.
A month ago I joined the alcohol thread - which worked for me, 30 days not drinking - aim - tee total for life.
I'm hoping this thread could help me in the same way.
My Dad is dying from smoking related illnesses, he's been on oxygen cylinders for a while now, moved out to Tenerife as he finds the cold weather here unbearable. I love him to pieces and it's terrible to see him unable to breath and even struggles to walk across a room these days.
We're going out to see him end of February and I am desperate to be smoke free by then.
I'm not a big smoker - just a stupid one, on and off for the last 26 years. OH buys the cigarettes and smokes heavily.....but also drinks every night and I conquered that one.
I've no patches / gum / sprays, just will power (which is not the best) but am doing this for my dad (as well as myself) so here goes... will repost later.
Thankyou and good luck with your journeys0 -
Hi crazymum and a very warm welcome to the thread.
I'm so terribly sorry to hear your extremely sad news about your poor Dad, it must be truly awful to see him as he is. My FIL died of lung cancer so I can imagine a little of what you're seeing in him, especially the awful gasping for breath.
Very well done indeed on getting to a whole 30 days free from the drink demon!! :TThat is a really HUGE achievement!!! Try hard never to give in to thoughts about it in future.
I promise we will do all we can to help you to be free from fags so whenever you feel you need to talk out your feelings, please do so here as it's here that people understand all your going through in stopping smoking.
Read the Alan Carr book as often as you need as we've had great success with people using that. If your willpower isn't as good as you'd like why not get one of the nicotine sprays or an inhalator as back up, even if you never need it, it may just give you a feeling of security which will help you through times when you might otherwise turn to a fag.
You might also find help in using the Quitters Pledge to help on your journey. Try the pledge below at the start of each day:Quitters Pledge
"Today I'm not going to smoke any cigarettes, tomorrow IF I wish I may do so". Then renew your pledge each day.
All very best wishes to you, crazymum and please keep coming to the thread as it helps to chat about feelings. With your willpower (which you can strengthen) we'll do our very best to get you a fag-free visit to your Dad - and beyond!

Hey All,
Just been to see my smoking cessation clinic. I blew a 3 on the meter (as opposed to a 13 from last week!!). They've lowered my patches to the stage 1 ones, but given me extra cartridges for my inhalator as I'm using that quite a bit. It is really helping tho when the cravings hit.
Am so pleased I've got this far and am determined to continue. Even the stress of my CCCS interview yesterday didn't send me to the fags (altho I did use my inhalator quite a bit!!).
CrazyMum, wow 30 days without drinking is brilliant. That must give you great self-confidence. It's horrible seeing a loved one going thru things that you know could have been prevented isn't it! My Dad had a quadruple heart bypass op a few years ago and he used to smoke 40 a day. He quit before he got the heart disease, but they say it was still a big factor in causing it.
Good luck with quitting. I have got loads of good support from here so I'm sure you will too.

Hi Flis, good news about your CM reading, though hopefully it should be lower again next week. Try to keep out of contact with anyone that smokes and you'll be blowing lower next week. I know they've now put you on lower patches and see you use the inhalator quite a lot; try to lower the inhalator as well as you'll find you'll benefit a lot further down the track if you can do so.
A shame to hear about your Dad, but good to hear you're quitting and therefore trying your hardest to keep away from all smoking-related diseases!
Am I right in thinking you're now a week free..or is it tomorrow? If you could kindly put the amount of days/weeks/moths/yearson the Title bar of each post along with methods used ie. patches and inhalator I'd be very grateful, it also helps everyone else to know where you're at.
All the best for another great day tomorrow!

Thankyou so much Sue for such a warm welcome.
Thankyou flis - you sound like you're doing well.
I keep forgetting that I'm not smoking - my head just keeps telling me that it's time to smoke and forgets that it's not. I'm also finding that coffee is a trigger for me - so I think I'll switch to tea for the moment.
I think your idea of a spray or something is a very good one - today so far has been quite tricky.

Hi crazymum, why not give your Drs surgery a ring, the Cessation Nurse can give a LOT of advice. Then as well as being able to come to the thread any time you wish, you could also see her weekly which can be even more useful when seeing someone 'physically'. You may have to book an appointment, that's ok though, just keep on quitting in the meantime and look ahead to seeing her; they'll be delighted your helping yourself with your health!
Give it a try, nothing to lose, and you'll possibly gain! Very well done indeed on keeping FREE from the little blighters! You CAN do this CM!! :grinheart Stay strong and focus hard against your demons!!!

Thanks for your comments peeps. Still no desire to smoke, can't really describe what I mean in the following but I am sure some or all of you know what I mean....
It is night time, kids are in bed and I can't help but think I would like to just smoke (still no desire) just for something to do! I'm finding that a bit weird hehe.
DH started smoking again today, I don't mind as it is up to him. I had a feeling he just tried because he thought it would help me, he didn't want to stop enough. But he seems ok about the fact that I am ok with it. I am finding it hard to convince him its OK though he has this little guilty look when he lights up. I have already said to him if I want to smoke I will and I won't feel guilty about it so why should he?
Getting closer to saturday! Not feeling so bad about it now, more positive
Thanks again for listening! Welldone all0 -
Sorry Sue - it is tomorrow that I am a week smoke free! Got a friend coming round tomorrow night for a drink once the kids are in bed, to celebrate (no she doesn't smoke luckily!!).
